An article accepted for publication in "The Astrophysical Journal" reports the results of a study of the structure and morphology of galaxies that existed in the first three billion years of life of the universe. A team of researchers used observations conducted with the James Webb Space Telescope as part of the CEERS survey to obtain enough detail to understand what primordial galaxies were like. The conclusion is a confirmation of previous research regarding the remarkable variety of shapes and structures and turned out even superior thanks to Webb. In many of them, the structures are already quite evolved, as in closer and younger galaxies.

Un articolo accettato per la pubblicazione sulla rivista "The Astrophysical Journal" riporta i risultati di uno studio della struttura e morfologia delle galassie esistenti nei primi tre miliardi di anni di vita dell'universo. Un team di ricercatori che ne include quattro dell'INAF (Istituto nazionale di astrofisica) ha utilizzato osservazioni condotte con il telescopio spaziale James Webb all'interno dell'indagine CEERS per ottenere dettagli sufficienti a capire come fossero le galassie primordiali. La conclusione è una conferma di ricerche precedenti riguardante la notevole varietà di forme e strutture che sono risultati perfino superiori grazie a Webb. In molte di esse, le strutture sono già piuttosto evolute, come in galassie più vicine e giovani.
