date 3: ok cupid

After a week and a half of messages, I agreed to go on my first OK Cupid date with the Musician.

A little FB stalking revealed we had mutual friends from college, so I felt less apprehensive about meeting a total stranger.

I arrived dressed for the perfect Indie Hollywood date: gliding in wearing a breezy long white dress, curly hair wild, rouge ready. The Musician stood up to greet me, having found a quiet table tucked at the back of the bar. When I was parking my car, he texted me that he overheard the couple next to him getting to know each other – they're on an OKC date too. Within thirty seconds of my arrival, he tells me that the star of Slumdog Millionaire, Dev Patel, is sipping a drink two tables away.

So Hollywood, right? What could go wrong, between celebrity sightings and other random daters?

I wish something had so there would be an interesting twist here, but it turned out to be a mellow date. We had a lot to talk about our fondest college memories, but there's no way I could seriously date a struggling musician, fulltime server.

After an hour, he didn't offer to buy me a second drink, but he did continue to chat through a full glass of water with me.

The night ended with a walk to my car and a hug goodbye.

Not bad OKC, not bad.
