An Unexpected Reunion
A/N: So this is something new I'm trying. This is something I wrote, kinda self indulgence on my part. It's with my Commander Celimane and Malyck.
Short Summary: Celimane had a rough night and someone unexpected comes along
---------------
Divinity’s Reach is such a lovely city and was a nice area to set up shop or just explore. Exploring was just what, Celimane was going to do. She was heading up to the top garden near the Queen’s throne room. It was rather pretty the stars that hung on the ceiling certainly had its appeal. This is what she did after a bad nightmare after a rough day of helping around Shaemoor or Queensdale. As she walked into the Garden, she would go to sit on the steps near a rather big plant. This place always helped her calm down after a rough night. This is also where she would figure out which areas she could go to to find certain materials for the weapons and clothes she made. Celimane would finally sit down and relax. The faint glow of blue would likely shine against the wall she was resting up against. For the time of night, the promenade was rather busy. Celi liked having it busy, helping with clearing her mind as she watched the people walk.
She was so wrapped up in listening to a conversation with two ministers that she didn’t notice the familiar figure walking over to her. The figure sat next to her and started to speak but Celimane was zoned out so far that he had to hit her shoulder gently.
“Sorry.. I wasn’t paying attention. I’ll go.. I know it's late.” She said as she started to get up when she finally looked over to see Malyck. Malyck or The Harbinger as the Nightmare Court referred to him. Celimane would settle back down. “Oh.. you’re back..How long has it been?” She asked looking back at the two ministers. Malyck shrugged and looked over to where she was looking.
“I think it's been two years, mo chroí. Didn’t think I would find you in a rather big city.” He said as he would look over at her. That nickname sent shivers through Celimane. It’s not that she was cold. It’s just she wasn’t used to hearing him call her that in a long time. It was a playful term that she used when they were in disguise in the Court and sometimes he would say it back or just ignore her.
“A lot has happened in those two years. Mainly that I’ve been traveling all over the place. How have you’ve been? Did you find that other Sylvari city?” She asked as she would move a little bit so he could rest fully against the wall. He did and relaxed a little bit. Celi would look over at him with a soft tilt to her head. She was curious as to why he was there. After not seeing him for a long time, Celi mainly thought he was back with the other nondreamers.
“I did. Stayed there for a few months then went to see the world. This is actually the first time, I’ve been in a big city. It’s different,” Malyck said as he looked around the garden, “Its late.. What are you doing up? I thought you were always one to go to sleep on time.” This earned a sharp laugh from Celimane. He was right that back when they had first met, she would always go to sleep on time and sleep through the night. But not now and probably not ever again if she continued on the route she was on.
“A lot has changed since you last saw me.. Namely my sleeping habits. The world hasn’t been that nice to me.” She said rather softly. A soft yawn came from her after she spoke but her mind betrayed the yawn. It was going over all the things she needed to get ready for a trip for a friend. How many bows and pistols she needs to make for the rangers and thieves. What type of armor would a charr need to fight? It was nonstop. Her leg started to bounce up and down as she let her mind wander on the items she needed to get down. The engineer part of her would be the main voice in her head telling her she needed to get work done. It was so loud that no other voice could be heard. The man sitting next would be unaware of this or so Celimane thought. A gentle hand found its way to her shoulder, it pulled her from the frantic thoughts and warnings. Malyck had a strange look of concern twisted on his face.
“Let’s get you to bed. You need it.” He said getting up. Malyck would reach a hand down to help her up, which she took and got up. She was too tired to put up a protest so she led him back to the place where she was staying. It was a humble room in a tavern near her workshop. Once they got there, Kethra ran over and jumped up in Celi’s arms. Celimane laughed a little bit as the fernhound licked her face.
“Oh Malyck this is my fernhound Kethra. Kethra meet Malyck.” Celimane said as the hound would glare at the male Sylvari. Malyck would reach out to pet her and the hound would lean into the pets. The hound soon jumped down from Celi’s arms and would push her towards the bed. Malyck would follow them as Celi would explain how she got Kethra. Malyck would smile faintly seeing at how Celimane had grown since the last time he saw her. He felt slightly happy for her but at the same time he wanted to know why she couldn’t sleep.
Celimane sat down on her bed as Kethra started to headbutt her to lay down. Malyck laughed a little bit at the hounds actions. She sighed as she laid down and soon Kethra turned to Malyck.
“I think she also wants you to sleep or at least lay down.” The Engineer said with a soft laugh as she scooted over for Malyck to lay down. He did which made Kethra happily yip.
“At least she’s persistent. That’s quite the hound you got.” He said as he got comfortable. Celimane just nodded a little bit as she turned over to face the wall. He shook his head a little bit as he turned her over gently and wrapped his arm around her. Celi didn’t protest and neither did Kethra as she jumped up to lay down near the two. Celi rested her head on his chest and slowly started to fall asleep.
“I got you mo chroí, no one is going to hurt you while you sleep.” Malyck said gently, noticing her falling asleep. Once she was fully asleep, he relaxed a little bit and fell asleep as well. No nightmares came to Celimane again that night and with that she was fully rested for the next day.
