Pruning
I think we all need to learn how to ‘prune’.
Definitions
to cut off branches from a tree, bush, or plant, especially so that it will grow better in the future
to reduce something by removing things that are not necessary:
I do not mean to say that you should learn how to prune trees/plants (although you should, at some point, own a plant, take care and raise it, you know).
I personally think that what people refer to as ‘reflection’ are actually just us pruning our trees (or, our souls if I may). As the gardener of our own soul, it is wise to accept that the weaker parts of us have to be removed in order for us to grow. Of course, I understand that we humans, we can’t just snip of a part of ourselves that we don’t like, but instead what we can do is stop investing time and resources into that weak part, (for example, self pity in my case) instead we should focus our energy into something else that makes us stronger in the long term. This is the same with plants, when we snip of a weak part of them, they will stop putting in precious resources into nothing. The only difference is that plants have no complete control of what goes where until it’s a matter of life and death, but we are given the advantage to choose.
Maybe a part of life is all about choices. People complain when they’ve chosen what they do not want. Remember, we can always choose.
