After we recorded the song and filmed the video, I was thinking about the single art. Artwork for a single is always a tricky thing, since artwork has to set the mood for the record. So Mike and I discussed what kind of pictures we wanted and we went out to shoot them. For this single, I wanted a confident, fighting-mode-facial expression, because it fits the lyrics. We women don't need a man to feel beautiful or powerful, we are all those things on our own. No matter how dedicated you are to him, never forget your own happiness. I had so much fun making the music video. When it came to thinking of idea’s for the video, I knew that I wanted to tell a story. A break-up song is always a storyline between two people, and so is this song. But I also really wanted to show the musical Pop-Rock side of the song, the energetic part, so I made a little story-board with all my idea’s. Based on that story-board, Mike and I came up with three different scenes. One storylinescène, one bandscène and one narratorscène. It’s amazing when you see your own vision coming to life. It was really early in the morning when I wrote 'He Said'. I couldn't sleep at night and the sentence "You said that you'd be here when I cry. But you changed and this was all a lie." was stuck in my mind all night.
