How to Get Rid of Body Acne
Use the right body wash. Like it or not, you will need to use skin care products that aren’t too harsh or too mild but just right. Products with salicylic acid aren’t as harsh as those with benzoyl peroxide and many with mild skin sensitivity are turning to salicylic acid based body washes. If you don’t have sensitive skin, it’s better that you use the harsher skin products and remember to moisturize.
Acne diet. You want to stay away from chocolate, dairy, soda and foods high in sugar. All cow milk has estrogen in it, which causes hormonal imbalances that lead to an over-production of sebum. When a hormonal imbalance occurs due to diet or other factors, it causes your sebaceous to produce sebum and clog pores, so it’s best to stay away from certain foods.
Keep skin moist. When skin is dry, it causes flakes to clog pores and cause acne. Also, dry skin causes an over-compensation of sebum oil which clogs pores and causes acne. It’s important that you use an all natural moisturizer or one with very little skin iritants. Fragrances, alcohol and other irritants found in moisturizers will not only worsen skin but actually increase irritation.
Vitamins. Vitamin K, E and D all help the skin to increase healing periods and boost cell turnover. It’s not enough to take a daily multi-vitamin as your body will only absorb a small percentage from the vitamins. It’s better to get these vitamins from foods to allow for better absorption.
Avoid Stimulants. Everyone knows that coffee and caffeine are common stimulants. Stimulants in general should be avoided as they all lead to an increase in acne. If you have body acne, avoid any stimulants.
Drink more water. Not only does water flush the organs, but it also increases cell turnover and heals skin faster. The more water you drink, the better it is for skin. You should limit your consumption of soda or completely replace soda consumption with water. Your skin is also more moist when you consume 8 glasses of water per day, which helps to limit sebum production.
