When Iron Maiden get their Celtic jig game on... aww I love it so much. It's giving me shivers. For years, no one in music media or in online forums or anywhere, mentioned that aspect of their sound, which creeps into their work from the mid 90s onwards. That was until a Scottish guy on a music podcast fairly recently said about how well the tunes with the Celtic melodies go down at Scottish gigs Maiden play.
It's one of those moments where someone mentions something you've thought for years and it just... not validates it, but just makes you think 'okay, so others do appreciate that aspect too'. The whole song is wonderful, but the bit from 4.21 onwards, just pleases the celt in me no end.
When you think that we've used all our chances And the chance to make everything right Keep on making the same old mistakes Makes untipping the balance so easy When we're living our lives on the edge Say a prayer on the book of the dead
