Funny Reddit story — there was a video on r/tiktokcringe where some good ol’ boys were singing about hanging “lawbreakers”. Like THE DAY after that Mississippi Strange Fruit was reported. Everyone was justifiably piling on these assholes, when one brave soul posted, “Hey, they didn’t SPECIFICALLY mention black people! You guys are making assumptions based on their being white! You’re the REAL racists!”

When I pointed out this was a little disingenuous, he doubled down, “Hey, some bad guys DESERVE to hang! Do you want pedophiles to get away with their crimes?” I point out here, NOTHING was said, either in the “music” video or in the comments, about pedos. So yeah, there’s no mistaking what ideology any of these guys were following.

Now, I SHOULD have been smart. Just shut up and report. I had the right to be silent, but I didn’t have the ability. So I replied that the only people involved here that deserved hanging were the racists and their defenders.

BOOM! Banned By Bot! “Threatening violence”! 3-day suspension. I’ve looked all over Reddit and can’t find an appeal form (that they say exists), or any way to contact a human mod to plead my case. So now I’m in Reddit jail until Sunday.

Anyone else have this kind of interesting situation with Reddit?

Someone from a Discord I moderate alerted me that the phrase "on 1994" was triggering the censor bot.

I figured it was just a precaution against people leaking birth dates or something. So I went to try and whitelist the phrase.

I typed "on 1994" into the box, and it autocorrected it to this.

I tried three times and it insisted on changing 1994 to "igga". And I thought, fine, I guess people are using Leet Speak to say THAT word now. But in trying to narrow down the flag, people were able to say "1994" by itself no problem. So why couldn't they say "on" or "in 1994"?

It puts an N in front of 1994.

Reddit could really use a censor bot

I just want you all to know...

that yesterday Bloom Into the Ground was vanished from public searches by the tumblr censor bot.  So, like always, I began slowly deleting tags and phrases until I found the one that allowed it back into public view (PSA:  you can do this!)

Guess what it was?

#role reversal (In this case, because it was lwj who was dead for the 13 years instead of wwx).

Yep.  I deleted that, kept everything else, and now you can find it cruising tags.

Fuck the tumblr censor bot.  Like.  Really.  What the hell do they think “role reversal” means?
