New York- New York

This summer was the first time I’ve ever visited New York City. I’ve always wanted to go after hearing what others had to say about how the city gives you a special feeling. It was something I couldn’t quite understand until I visited.

Right when I got off the train I felt a difference around me. It wasn’t something I could quite place until I got up on the street and caught a cab. New York makes you feel like you’re a part of something. It’s not quite clear what that something is but it makes you feel important. It was a kind of energy that made me feel alive. I felt inspired, driven and motivated in ways I don’t always feel back home in Maryland. 

Maybe it’s all the movement that takes place around a person. From the people busily bustling on the sidewalks, to the endless numbers of cars on the streets, to the signs that are on constant video stream. Nothing seems to stand still. Ever.

The feeling from New York is one I took back with me. Remembering that even in my quite little neighborhood I’m a part of something no matter where I am or what I’m doing in my life. It’s one I hope everybody feels in their lives that they are special and are a part of something even if it’s hard to see sometimes.

Someday I would like to live in New York but right now I’m excited for what’s going on in my Maryland life.

Side note: I got to see Disney’s Aladdin on Broadway. That was an amazing show! James Monroe Iglehart inspired me as a performer! His energy level and talent are amazing to watch. I was fortunate enough to get a picture with him as he left the theater. If you get a chance I would recommend seeing the show.
