First International Conference „Women in Modern Philosophy“ in Brasil
From June 17 to June 20, 2019, the first international conference on Women in Modern Philosophy will take place at the Rio de Janeiro State University in Brasil. In addition to many Brazilian and international experts in this field, Prof. Dr. Ruth Hagengruber, Professor of Practical Philosophy at Paderborn University and Director of the Center for the History of Women Philosophers, will speak at the conference. The event focuses on bringing attention to women philosophers like Elisabeth of Bohemia, Margaret Cavendish, Catharine Trotter Cockburn, Anne Conway und Émilie Du Châtelet. The conference is organised by Katarina Peixoto (Rio de Janeiro State University), who will also participate in the international Libori Summer School 2019 at Paderborn University, in cooperation with the Center for the History of Women Philosophers. Moreover, an international cooperation between the Philosophy Departments at Paderborn University and Rio de Janeiro State University is planned.
