A book about women in philosophy by women in philosophy For all the young women and girls sitting in philosophy class wondering where the women are, this is the book for you. This collection of 21 chapters, each on a prominent woman in philosophy, looks at the impact that women have had on the field throughout history. From Hypatia to Angela Davis, The Philosopher Queens will be a guide to these badass women and how their amazing ideas have changed the world. This book is written both for newcomers to philosophy, as well as all those professors who know that they could still learn a thing or two. This book is also for those many people who have told us that there are no great women philosophers. Please pledge, read this book and then feel free to get back to us.
The two of us are young women who have studied and loved philosophy for many years. This book is borne out of frustration with the total lack of recognition for women in philosophy, not only its history but its current teaching.

First International Conference „Women in Modern Philosophy“ in Brasil From June 17 to June 20, 2019, the first international conference on Women in Modern Philosophy will take place at the Rio de Janeiro State University in Brasil. In addition to many Brazilian and international experts in this field, Prof. Dr. Ruth Hagengruber, Professor of Practical Philosophy at Paderborn University and Director of the Center for the History of Women Philosophers, will speak at the conference. The event focuses on bringing attention to women philosophers like Elisabeth of Bohemia, Margaret Cavendish, Catharine Trotter Cockburn, Anne Conway und Émilie Du Châtelet. The conference is organised by Katarina Peixoto (Rio de Janeiro State University), who will also participate in the international Libori Summer School 2019 at Paderborn University, in cooperation with the Center for the History of Women Philosophers. Moreover, an international cooperation between the Philosophy Departments at Paderborn University and Rio de Janeiro State University is planned. Project: Women in Early Phenomenology

The recent resurgence of interest in the history of the phenomenological movement has shown that these women were not marginal figures, but important contributors to the development of phenomenology. Current research at the Center HWPS focuses on the unpublished writings of Hedwig Conrad-Martius and Gerda Walther. Our aim is to publish new, critical editions of some of their key texts, which will include relevant supplementary materials from their literary estates. We are also attempting to map the early phenomenological movement, looking at the place of women in this intellectual and social network.

Happy Birthday, Helene von Druskowitz! On this day in 1918, Helene von Druskowitz, née Helena Maria Druschkovich, died in Amstetten, Austria. Helene von Druskowitz was an Austrian writer, philosopher and music critic. She studied philosophy, archeology, German literature, Orientalism and modern languages in Zurich and was the first Austrian woman to obtain a Doctorate in philosophy. Helene von Druskowitz's philosophy will also be part of the Libori Summer School 2019!
