The little #cichlids are 3 weeks old today! They (with mom & dad) have taken over the #aquarium. I moved the two non family members to a new tank because the parents bullied them. Both #cichlid tanks are doing well. For 16 days I’ve been hatching brine shrimp on the kitchen counter, doing mini water changes every day instead of weekly large one, rearranging tank furnishings to thwart territorial squabbles, adding more hiding spots to keep the cichlids feeling safe. The #firemouth #cichlid #babyfish are doing well! They are my first🔥. They have grown so fast! The new larger Cichlid tank will be happening this weekend and two (or maybe all 4) adults will be relocated. The small ones will stay behind. I’ll get busy seeking loving responsible guardians. The baby🔥 #firemouth #cichlids are 10 days old today and have started enlarging their playground with their parents blessing. The other two cichlids are losing territory fast. Two weeks ago the plan was the four adult cichlids were to be relocated to a larger tank - then the little ones appeared and complicated everything! So fascinating! I’m hatching plan ‘B’ which involves making room for their #aquarium in my office. Mom & Dad #firemouth #cichlid gathering the fry in their cave nest for the night. The #convictcichlid used to live in that cave before the pair took it over. He’s totally baffled with being excluded and has made a solo nest of his own.
