Severe weather will be the big issue today with the potential for tornado activity through the Mid-Mississippi Valley, specifically from southern Indiana through Arkansas. After today's severe weather outbreak, a very dangerous flooding event will occur along the Ohio River Valley starting today and lasting into the weekend. The surface map this morning shows a weak storm system in the Plains with a warm front running generally through the central Plains states. That front is separating warm air down across the southern Plains in Texas and chilly weather across the Great Lakes and Northeast. In fact, the Northeast is cold this morning with some snow showers starting to come in through Ontario, parts of the northern Great Lakes into the Northeast where snow showers will occur.
