YOU ARE LOST. lost, disorientated, stumbling with unsteady feet through unfamiliar landscapes, and guided by nothing more than the words of passing strangers. dust? you ask, slender fingers ( so unused to work, to labor, to anything but the sole purpose you were born to carry out ) pointing at a price tag. the shopkeeper nods, and you step away, baffled.

later, you are told that you need a job to survive in this place, and so like the good girl you are, you obediently seek one out. what are you good at? is the question posed, and your lips form the answer automatically: singing. i can sing.

this is what brings you to this concert hall now. sonorous melodies caress the air even from outside, and you stand still for a moment to take it in, eyes closed, a smile crossing your features at last; this, finally, is something you know. when you open them moments later, there’s someone standing nearby as well. automatically, a light of surprise shoots into your gaze, accompanied by a squeak.

                 “h-hyaah... !”

and then you clasp both hands over your lips, embarrassed by the outburst.
