There isn't a single creature outside of our family here that comes close to our lifespans and whose ancestors they didn't know. It was my wife's idea to use his name as our family surname since his death created me. With me not being a member of their pantheon, my wife and I were never anything less than equal. And my world wouldn't exist without her, so we stay equal even in our new pantheon. It's something I'd like for my children, where they can love and respect their partner freely and their partner also has no other motivations other than desiring to love and respect them in turn. Dating someone who gets a status boost from being with you leaves room for very toxic people to enter your life with only the desire to use you."
"Besides, Singularity is a good kid, even if I cannot stand his father. And it's not his fault, it's not like he got a say in who created him. My daughter enjoys his company and he makes her smile. I find that a good enough reason to be ok with it all. Plus, for once in her life, she's mingling with someone about her age who she doesn't outrank in the pantheon, they gain nothing from each other but one another's love."
