I draw what I hecking want.

My cats perfectly summing up the first week of my summer work schedule: AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA--

I liked my lemon meringue dress design for Baroness von Bon Bon so much I thought I’d color it. Some parts have a toasted appearance reminiscent of that nice golden brown you get on a meringue. Very summery indeed.

I’m sure there’s an AU where Porcia goes around introducing Cuphead and Mugman just like that otter showing its baby off. And Cerrel panicking because jeez, lassie, ye got to support their heads; those babies are under a month old, ye know.

Two things: Claire and the Victorian roller skates were drawn for another post I have yet to get around to so they make sense; and she’s actually smiling. RUN FOR YOUR LIFE.

I need to draw this Western dude more. Montana Davy needs a coffee every now and again because ranching can be draining.

And now for the mom. I actually designed her first before other members of the Cup family.

Porcia is Claire and Alson’s younger sister, Cerrel’s wife, and Cuphead and Mugman’s mother. At this point I know more about her background, so any origin comics I manage to get out will probably focus on her first until I figure out more of Cerrel’s background.

Main Sketch: I was very much inspired by Mrs. Potts and Chip from Beauty and the Beast--*slaps poster of 2017 version out of way with poster of 1990′s animated version* THE ACTUAL ONE--while designing her outfit and color scheme, though I tried to keep her main purple as balanced between red and blue as possible while still being more red-forward like her siblings. Although her Aunt Molly and cousin Christopher, if I ever finish those sketches, take more direct inspiration in terms of overall design. Also, that stain on the side of her head is most likely cafe au lait.

A. Under her shawl you can see her dress is very short sleeved. Like Claire, she prefers to keep some kind of modesty cover.

B. Side sketch and possible tic of hers, speaking with her mouth blocked by a dainty fist, as if she’s reluctant to speak at all or fears the consequences.

C. When she got sold to the Devil, she worked in the casino as a cocktail waitress (”You’re a pretty girl, you know that? You’d make a lovely waitress.” --The Devil). The first few months were absolutely miserable for her because, well, you wouldn’t want to be around anyone if you were dragged to hell to stay there for good and you hadn’t done anything wrong in your life to deserve it, would you? Just shy and scared being in this predicament.

D. Oh, I’m not gonna make many friends with this one... Before you get up in arms, no, Porcia didn’t have a romantic relationship with King Dice at any time during her servitude to the Devil. Neither one of them had any attraction toward one another. However, Porcia did see King Dice as a friend/mentor she had to invest some degree of trust in to survive her time in Hell and eventually escape. Even Dice knew that she did not belong there. To even get her to a level where she could actually go out and talk to strangers, he had to soften his approach when talking to her and walking her through waitress training. He won’t admit it, but he also convinced her to try and talk to Cerrel when she first saw him. After Porcia was freed, she and Dice did part ways, but she said she hoped he would go on to better things and even leave the casino to pursue his own dreams one day. He has long since forgotten her, but this was due to the Devil altering his memory on request to ease the pain news of her death brought. Again, the origin comics would probably explain all of this much better.

E. The day Porcia was freed, she did have some unfinished business to take care of with her family, which resulted in her giving the greatest Reason You Suck speech ever. And this applied to everyone in her immediate family; she didn’t want to, but she had to call out Claire for her “ignore it and the problem might go away” attitude concerning how she dealt with her parents’ series of crimes, called out Alston for being somewhat of a coward by not standing up for himself, and called both of them out for just sitting there and taking it from Percy and Edith. She calls Percy and Edith out for the monsters they are, disowns them, and refuses to refer to them by anything but their first name. No sir and madam, no mother and father, just Percy and Edith. (”Did you just call your mother by her first name??” “And what’s that to you, PERCY??”)

F. From her wedding with Cerrel. And yes, Aunt Molly helped her make her dress. Will also be doing a comic about this later.

G. Her little bundles of joy. At first after sending the form off with Oliver to The Illustrator, Porcia was scared she would become the kind of mother Edith was. Fortunately, that was not the case as she turned out to be a very loving mommy to Cuphead and Mugman for the short time they were with her. In terms of looks, Cuphead definitely takes after her, but her sweetness and cautiousness manifests in Mugman.

F. The last time Porcia was seen before she was killed. The babies were safely contained in a basket she carried when she and Cerrel attempted to leave Inkwell Isle so they could raise them out in the Highlands without worrying about her awful parents preying on them.

Thought I’d do a quick color test on Cerrel, my interpretation of Cuphead and Mugman’s father. And it’s evident that I haven’t used Medibang too often as of late.

I know the common interpretation would be that the boys’ father would also be a mug/cup, but a friend of mine steered me away from the trap to try out something more original.

Wanted to draw the dads, wot you want from me?

As far as I know, Calix and Cerrel (after being prototyped into Cerrelsprite) will probably team up during the events of Inkwell Convergence, but I don't know a whole lot about how that project is going to go and I don't know what became of Calix (or Vienna) after he placed Cuphead and Mugman in the care of Elder Kettle.

Since there’s a lot of speculation on Cuphead and Mugman’s parents, here’s my interpretation.

This is Cerrel, who I think their father was. He’s still a little mysterious to me, as he hails from Inkwell’s Highlands, but more information will probably pop up here and again.

Main sketch: I took inspiration from Celtic themed teapots and coffeepots, though I tried to keep his design as simple as possible to stick to the artstyle the game follows. He does have a few scars and knicks on his head, some from adventuring as a kid and some from military involvement. He’s also got some scars under his shirt primarily from the latter.

A. He wears a tartan cap instead of a normal lid because, well, he went rolling down the hill as a kid while playing and lost his lid. I think the cap was made for him by his mother, Nana Amic, before she passed away. He’s almost never seen without it.

B. Side view sketch.

C. After being taken under the care of Elder Kettle as a kid, growing up hearing his stories of his days as a knight, and the legends of the Legendary Chalice, Cerrel wanted to grow up to become a knight. He spent years training under Elder Kettle, going out to the ruins at Rugged Ridge, and even looking for additional relics that could share ties to the knights of old. Two years before he got married, he served in the Buren war defending Inkwell Isle. And on a darker note, this sketch is of the last time he’s seen before he was killed defending his wife and children. Bravo, Edith. Bravo. You irredeemable c(gets cut off).

D. The war ended with one month until the wedding and in that time Cerrel met the only family Porcia trusted to still be part of her life and invite to her wedding: her sister Claire, her brother Alston, her Auntie Molly, and her cousin Christopher. Cerrel and Alston grew particularly close because of their interest in the knights and lore of Inkwell. Alston especially was trying to collect research on the Calix Animi ancestry, and in this sketch he takes an interest to some of the notes Cerrel took while out studying the ruins; while also internally geeking out that he’ll have family ties to someone who lives and breathes this stuff.

E. I’ll actually do a comic later about how these two met, but for now, Cerrel and Porcia do indeed make a lovely couple. In fact, he was able to help Porcia overcome and even heal years of psychological trauma brought upon her by her parents. She becomes far more confident, more assertive, and far happier than before. Cerrel’s even proud of how far she’s come since the day they met.

F. A proud papa. He experienced a whole new level of happiness the night Oliver landed in the window and brought Cuphead and Mugman into his and Porcia’s lives. He’ll defend these two with his life. In fact, Mugman will grow up to look very much like him; that is, if Cerrel were a cup instead of a teapot. Cuphead takes after his daring personality.
