Wednesday was exhausting. It was hot enough to make sleep harder, but not impossible with fan and sir conditioner. We'd been waiting for word about my car, as they are all on vacation next week and their usually packed schedule was even more packed than usual at the honest Mechanics. They said they'd squeeze us in if they could, and as I figured odds were not good for fixable, I was extra understanding of that. They had a squint Wednesday morning. There was no chance of me getting back to sleep between a little too warm and upset, and I would need to get up early for a visitor anyway, so better just get it over with, which meant rousing Squirrel.
It's a father and son situation and the father runs the sales bit by himself. This is a slow process I wanted evolve. They took a trade in here or there when someone couldn't afford a fix, which they'd fix up in their spare time and flip. It used to only be a few cars, but after the neighbor sold their lot, they started going hole hog on it. They'll take a trade in for a discount on the refurbish car, and fix it up. My car is basically scrap and at the time they said to try to drive the car as little as possible because it's no longer really fixable said they do not want it as a trade in.
Every time I drive it, I'm gambling on the engine going for good and all. I need to find some other solution. I've got the specialist appointment Thursday and used car conversations with Honest Mechanic senior need to happen after lunch. I'm going to borrow Squirrel's car for the appointment and stop in to talk to the nice man into trying to break their rules on financing. I know the financing company they work with will not take me. Really I would need half a year's total SSI/SSD to buy up front. I've been going there most of this century and they've bent rules on repair payments for me a few times and I always paid them back. I'm not sanguine, but I have to try. I'm fucked if I don't find a way out.
I need to get the new guy to empty out my car for me except for essentials, so when I inevitably blow the engine, I can just grab things like emergency oil, proof of insurance, etc. and have PBS tow it away.
I should have taken the library books with me, but I was in a lot of pain and struggling with walking, and so exhausted, I didn't think. I went to do pick up anyway as I was out and it wasn't that much further.
I should have bathed when I got home because of allergens in my hair, but that would have stolen yet another hour of sleep and I was already down to four at best, so I am pretty messed up as a result. And then cats all needed loves, and then I settled and tried to compose myself for sleep, and immediately heard kittens trying to destroy my belongings. Up again to confiscate people and do Livia loves and kitten feather time, which is a bad combination, but what can you do. Got my hand badly clawed when claw decided to go after Livia. Tried to settle for sleep. Phone range. Tried to settle for sleep, claw trying yo destroy my belongings again. Tried to settle for sleep yet another Insurance scammer. (One also called while OI was out). Fell asleep. A different Insurance scammer woke me up. Sigh. so I dressed and went back to bed to try to at least lie still for another half an hour until it was time to get up.
I don't know DOGE sold my info to insurance scammers, but it wasn't like that before several of them sold SSI and Medicare stuff to private companies so… Sigh.
The visit was lovely at least. I do enjoy Techie Millennial and so do the Kittens. After a snack and lungs I took the kittens out, but I think they were peopled out as a (probably grad student) startled Claw and she broke and ran. Saffy held out a little longer then ran in after her. He didn't do anything odd, just walked briskly down the central path, not even the close path. IDK. The walk before this got cut short too, as Big Brown Dog was on the near path that time.
For the record, Big Brown Dog is a very sweet, very well behaved sort of dog. I don't know the sex of the dog, but ze never even looks in the direction of the kittens, never barks at people or pets, never makes any trouble, is super well trained, but BBD is HUGE and fluffy. I think this is the biggest dog in a complex full of dogs. I don't blame my beasts for being scared of of something that humongous in comparison to them that is also one of a species that sometimes barks at them. Claw and Saff may sometimes consider staring down or even fighting that one dog their size that hates them, but this things head would be above my waist.
Anyway, I let them out of the harnesses and they got post walk treat time and had a long nap.
I am also exhausted, accomplished little online today, have a bunch of cat messes to manage, need a bath, and tomorrow will be more shambling about in High Heat followed by the New Guy Coming and Exhausting tasks to do. I wonder if my wheelchair fits in the storage unit? And he's coming Friday too.
This is too many things. At least there is a good chance of my symptoms being easy for the doctor to see tomorrow.
