There’s a kind of peace to be found at the cliff that overlooks the city, despite some of the less-than-enticing rumors that it. Stories of matyrdom, of sacrifice and of suicide. It’s not these tales that draw Nier to Savior’s Respite, but they don’t frighten her either. Rather, she enjoys the solitude the location offers, as well as the gentle foliage and relaxing view. On a day like today, she can sit under a tree with a borrowed book and enjoy a rare bit of silence from Spirale.
Her quiet afternoon isn’t ruined, but rather intruded upon by the arrival of a large visitor. A menacing man with a grim gaze, a mere peek at him sends Nier cowering behind her book. Hopefully, he’s just here to sight-see.
Despite the girl’s apprehension, Death does not share her Evoker’s feelings on the matter. Rather, she feels a kinship with this new arrival, enough so that she scarcely hesitates to emerge from her pocket dimension and float over to the man.
“My my... Is there something here that would interest someone like you? Truly? Truly truly...?”
Reaching out with an intangible hand, she brushes her fingers against his mask, lamenting the fact that she cannot actually touch anything on this island. Like her own mask, it betrays no indication of what he might be thinking.
“Tell me... why are you here? Are you like I was...? Do they reject you...? Or-”
“Death, you need to stop coming out like that...” mumbles Nier. Even as she stands, she holds herself behind her book, as if its cover will protect her. “You know it’s not safe here...”
With a final, lingering gaze, Death moves back to the girl’s side. “I am sorry, my beloved... There’s just so many intriguing things in this place...”
For a moment, their hands intertwine, before Death’s fingers merely phase through. Nier sighs, looking up to the man as much as she’s willing to. “I-I’m sorry... I hope she didn’t bother you or anything...”
