FIRST WAVE SEEKS TO LAUNCH PHASE 2 TRIAL OF EPI TREATMENT First Wave BioPharma has applied for FDA permission to start a Phase 2 clinical trial for the company’s new formulation of adrulipase to treat exocrine pancreatic insufficiency (EPI) in people with CF. The company is hoping to start the trial in early 2023. Adrulipase is a fat-digesting enzyme (lipase) derived from yeast. First Wave recently developed a new optimized formulation of adrulipase with the enzyme packed in micro-granules, making it easier for the medication to reach the small intestine.
