I’m not gonna post all 30 of their solo performances and I might miss some of the ones I was planning on sharing but here’s what stuck out to me

this was REALLY boyband it was so boyband I went back to check if we were still watching sisters make waves because I was so confused by how boyband it was. anyway she did a great job, apparently she’s an asian american who was a mentor for produce 100…? wait I guess it makes sense how boyband it was

vietnamese idol apparently! LOVED the costume stuff it was really fun

chinese opera!! really fun, bold choice—people tend to be really nitpicky when anyone incorporates stuff that’s based on that style

a japanese idol! when mom saw the performance she said “中二” lmao. I loved it, it’s a really good performance

air was really surprised by this one lmao. this actress nailed it though, I’m absolutely sure she has some background/training in singing

while listening I was like… no… it can’t be… but in fact it is. I like her energy

I said that I really liked her voice and air said I cursed her to be eliminated in like three episodes 😔

I liked the costuming here! mom was like “I don’t know what’s going on with the dance” and I was like. “…she’s sadly breakdancing in the rain.”

Oh yeah I haven’t been posting sisters riding the wind (but not the wave anymore?) performances. the youtube account seems to also be very.. haphazard and they’ve just been leaving performances out. or maybe they paywall some (?) which is. annoying. but anyway

this was interesting, the russian woman has a great voice

also meant we got… maybe russian music? I feel like usually they don’t translate from cn->another language, they usually have a native speaker sing in the original language then translate to cn for other singers. I could be wrong tho. a few weeks ago when me and air first saw this one we were like JUST LIKE SMASH BROS and we had the exact same reaction when we rewatched it yesterday.

this one made alicia go insane. amber liu is very handsome and there is a forehead touch. I actually remember another duo performance with MARiA with a ton of confetti but it looks like it’s not uploaded.

I think for the trio stuff they brought a contestant from last season because I definitely remember the kpop idol. she was the one with the most stage presence last season lol

it’s so sad they don’t have folks who can do stunts this season but the dancer gets to show off a little in this one

the thing is most of my niche interests aren’t even necessarily niche they’re like. wildly popular. in their country of origin,

ok so I was talking to mom about how she thinks 乘风破浪的姐姐 was rigged this round because a good dancer from a good performance was eliminated and it turns out. she has a bad reputation. because ten years ago her manager made a post on weibo and accused her then-husband of having a gambling addiction and throwing family under the bus or whatever and that was career-ruining for him and they got divorced. and it turns out the manager was lying and used a promo pic from a movie and the ex-husband filed a lawsuit and won. and years later ex-husband’s career is recovering and he does this impressive job as a role playing a pair of twins who at some point impersonate each other which caused people to dig into his past and go like ‘oh, he won the lawsuit, apparently he didn’t have gambling addiction and wasn’t throwing his family under the bus’ and they do more digging and somehow they found out that ex-wife was cheating on him (mom emphasizes that it was with a married man who is, direct quote, “the ugliest actor in china”) which then ruined her reputation so now people are complaining about her being on 乘风破浪的姐姐. I actually have no idea how legit all this is all I know is whenever I watch a variety show with mom she starts saying some wild shit about drama that started 10 years ago and ruined multiple people’s careers.
