" oh don't worry about being gentle. what's the point if there isn't just a little bit of pain. " it could be just another stu joke, or he could be trying to make her quiver just a bit more. stutter until she's incoherent. something in him tells him not to play with his food, but she doesn't know whats coming yet. and it's more fun that way. if she doesn't know she's the sacrificial lamb, then her face will look all the sweeter. but right now she's busy tending to his self made wound. she thinks he's helpless -- for now..

barb looks around to the puddles of blood surrounding her. and to the ripped up button up shirt and knife in her hand. quickly, she moves to tie the bandage as tightly as she can above the wound on her leg. it's not in a good spot, and barb knows this. but they have to get back out of the upside down before she can get real help. and right now, she didn't want valerie to get upset. " i know it looks like a lot of blood, but i need you to focus okay. if we get upset, we won't be thinking straight and we might not get out of here. " this was another crawl that barb had insisted they go on, but she hadn't necessarily been prepared to run into a demogorgon. especially with this being valerie's first crawl with her. thank god she'd had the flame thrower that nancy had insisted they carry. but, it had gone for valerie first, and barb had gotten in between to keep her sheltered. and that's when the demogorgons talons had sliced through her upper thigh. after charbroiling it, barb had decided she needed to sit to make the tourniquet or she'd bleed out before they could get back out. " okay, give me a hand, and you might have to let me lean on you a bit. but we head east back to hopper..and we get back to our side. "

"I can see that," he chuckled, and one of his hands reached out to cup her cheek, fingertips brushing against the heated skin there. "There's no need to be embarrassed around me," he insisted. "I want you to feel comfortable here." He knew it was easier said than done to be relaxed around a king - particularly one with such a tumultuous temper as Cenred often had - but he was in a good mood. Besides, beautiful women rarely did anything to incite his anger...unlike his often useless aides.
