I've just commissioned some art for the worst polycule

(that's the first page of the reference pics, don't ask why I decided to explain the pose with this, idk I did my best)

A poly fake dating romance with a "golden retriever", a "heartless heiress", a "beauty to beware of", and an "all bark and all bite bastard" -- and, yes, the fake dating does happen as a polycule, not just between the possible individual pairings.

The song that kickstarted inspiration for Can't Play Dead came on shuffle and I'm wondering if I try to force a ressurecting of Can't Fake This' presence in my brain where I'll write drabbles for the polycule to get out of my block since I'm struggling so much again to have ideas

May I inquire as to how Can’t Fake This becomes a polycule, because I adore this idea and just want to know how the friends’ suspicions Max is dating *one* of his crushes becomes a fake dating scenario between the lot of them 😂

Each friend advocates for one of his crushes as his true secret significant other, and the crushes play along with dates and lies individually and at the same time, till they gain awareness of each other and start lying that yes, they all know of each other, there's no cheating, and eventually that becomes "we all know of each other because we were all dating each other in polyamory"

But it gets to that point because Max can't take a stand against his friends meddling and presumptions and it snowballs too much - and while he is despairing over it continuing, Althaea sees that this continuing means they all keep getting to know each other, something they all seemed inclined towards, and brings up the polyamory

They lie at first about knowing of each other, and about the polyamory, because they have curiosity and interest on each other that seems to promise so much, and with time, they work and work and manage to build for real the relationship they advertised in their lies

I'm also simplifying things, but like, hope it makes sense 😅

Spoilers! Can't Fake This, my poly fake dating romance wip, doesn't have a reveal moment

The cast gets away with the lies and the relationship turns real

There's so much shit going on to get those 4 fuckers going from strangers, to acquaintances, to fake individual relationships, to fake polycule, to real polycule, that there's no great need for the drama of the reveal confrontation

Also half of the polycule is supposed to be great at manipulation and lying if necessary, and I wanted that to be reflected on the success of the lies

My first wip intro in this blog, and coincidentally the first work I want to try posting fully online. I have 20k words on this baby that I wrote for fun and will rework and finish into something I wouldn’t mind having an audience for, and that the audience will likely be able to understand.

I am also impulsively posting this, but I just missed so much having the urge to finish writing something, even more so something I actively enjoy working on!

I wish I could have shown more characters, but I have fought enough with artbreeder for today, besides not wanting to make this any longer.

Can't Play Dead happens like, in 2010, while Can't Fake This would be somewhat around 2020

And all I can say is that in CPD's case, more and more witches would die with the advancement of technology and the growing power of the internet as a resource for obtaining and spreading information

It would be incredibly difficult for another Althaea to appear in the new age, specially since Althaea only existed because of the centuries long efforts of her ancestors in founding a town to be their perfect playground, which frankly kinda makes it a miracle that it only took like 5 or 6 years for plans to culminate in the total annihilation of the Garcia legacy

Tho there's the factor of how the same people her ancestors slaughtered for power still are vulnerable and neglected demographics that any piece of shit could target to grow their magic without dealing with consequences depending on their profession, whiteness and privileges

..... CPD really is a heavy story huh.... At least there would be no wonder why the destruction of the Garcia legacy in all its vile ugliness is so important, and Althaea's role in it as both the hostage and the whistle-blower
