Day 2: Portal
This prompt immediately made me think of Illyn and his lore (part 1, part 2)
Did Illyn's lore come first or the accent? I know for quite a few of my dragons the apparel / accent is what inspired the lore, but there are times when theres a skin that's absolutely perfect for what I had in mind for that characters story. Also he handled his mane becoming tentacles way better than I would have
(wickerwizard is my side blog where FR stuff goes so pretend its that blog sending this ask)

I do recall just wanting SOMETHING to cover Illyn's secondary until I could change it, and so he got a tentacle mane, since I wanted to keep both him and his brother as lore dragons. I don't know why, they just seemed neat to me. When the Forbidden Portal was introduced, I was ESTATIC to give Illyn a reason for having the accent and he ended up getting trapped in the other world, alone, and mutated. When the coliseum accents got updated, I considered changing his accent to something that drops from the Forbidden Portal as well (two new tentacle mane accents! halleluiah!) but neither of them really worked for his colors, so the blue one stuck! Plus Flair Orca brings in a nice blue accent, so it all worked out in the end
But yeah, he did handle the whole hair-turning-to-tentacles thing a lot better than most people. I'll chalk it up to otherworldly magic plus a healthy dose of repression preventing him from confronting it until he got used to it

Illyn and Oath have such a complicated relationship and it never comes up anywhere because part of it involves them NEVER interacting with eachother. They're brothers, they're eachother's only family, but following different Orders meant they grew apart rapidly. Oath still holds a grudge against Illyn for "leaving" him to become a Seeker, Illyn is holding onto a fair amount of hurt that his own brother didn't try to save him when he went missing in the Cosmic Madness Dimension. They both love eachother, deep down, but it's layered in a lot of pettiness, mistakes, miscommunications, and genuine hurt that makes it impossible for either of them to move forward
