Hihi!! Welcome to the Lore Gauntlet my friend
I have approximately 6000 dragon stories on my mind at any given time but I will narrow it a bit. I've been thinking a LOT about the Exalted, and especially the Exalted Overseers in my lore. Essentially, I treat the Exalted as their God's doers; there's some dragons who are Exalted and go into the military, but there's also diplomats, trade negotiators, spec-ops, etc.
I use Sectors to designate different stretches of territory in the Southern Icefield, which can contain multiple clans. It feels very Icewardeny to divvy up the continent into neat little governable chunks. My lore takes place in Sector 42!
But why the Sectors are important for the Exalted is that I decided every Sector has an Exalted Overseer; essentially, an embassy of the Icewarden who just keeps an eye on things throughout his lands and makes sure nobody's starting an insurgency, or releasing all the horrors from a Gaoler prison, or creating an Emperor. I've got dragons for Sector 42's Exalted Overseer, and also the Overseers of some nearby Sectors as well, just for that nice diplomacy element!
There's also Exalted for other purposes as well; I tend to utilize the Gaoler Orders for some of the Icewarden's Exalted, though I'm sure other Flights have different ways to differentiate between them.
In general I really enjoy playing around with the idea of Exaltation in my lore. I like to think of it as a new beginning for a dragon, instead of a solid ending; it's nice to think that a dragon who's been Exalted might still be able to visit their family sometime (or the drama of them NOT visiting their family!)
TL:DR: Sectors are sections of territory, sectors have Exalted dragons to oversee them in the Icewarden's name, I like thinking about em because it's a neat concept and utilizes the Exalted a bit more in my lore.
I'll talk about some of my Exalted under the cut:
Fei is the Exalted Overseer of Sector 42, which is where my lore takes place. She's the best worst girl ever. She was originally an Exalted Seeker whose job was to track down dragon corrupted with the Shade and contain them, but now she's stuck in the muck of Sector 42's problems. I described her to my friend as such:
Exalted Fei: Okay so I nearly died and got immolated slash eaten by another dragon. whatever. I'm not going to change my behavior whatsoever and this will not effect me beyond my temporary state of exhaustion
oh no she's not chaotic. she's highly intelligent and likes to plan things out in advance, very much a bureaucrat at heart, she's just also the type of person who Gets Shit Done and doesn't acknowledge her limitations beyond like. data
like "okay I'm going into shock now. you need to perform surgery to remove the bullet. I will probably start thrashing, so you need to hold me down until I pass out. ignore any screaming or begging and Do What Must Be Done"
Flow is the Exalted Overseer of Sector 39, and despite his name he is about the opposite of someone who goes with the flow. He's a busybody at heart and takes his job very seriously, even when the dragons within his Sector try to encourage him to loosen up and stop treating everyone like they're planning on backstabbing him. Only Cobin knows what Flow's Charge is, and makes fun of him endlessly for it. Cobin also consistently lies about Flow's Charge, making it even more difficult for anyone to determine what's going on with them.
Yaeshon is the Exalted Overseer of Sector 40, and is an ex-Fire revolutionary who ended up getting chased out of the Fire territories and ended up in the Southern Icefield. He Exalted to the Icewarden as a final fuck-you to the Flamecaller, but he didn't really know what he was getting himself into. He feels like a babysitter 24/7 now, except on a grander level because he's babysitting multiple warring factions within his Sector. He would kill for some peace and quiet but he's not allowed to :c He enjoys a nice cup of tea and a light snowfall for the ultimate cozy vibes.
Keir is the Exalted Overseer of Sector 41 and she left Lightning to pursue her true goal in life: middle management in an even more miserable environment than she was born into. She's a supercharged HR representative because she can, will, and wants to beat someone up if they don't do their mandatory health and safety training module within 4 days of receiving it. On the plus side, there's casual Fridays; on the downside, Keir mandates everyone participate in casual Fridays.
Honey is the Exalted Overseer of Sector 43 and their existence pisses off every other Exalted in the vicinity. They take nothing seriously, they might be a spy for another Flight but nobody's sure which, and they run their Sector like it's an MLP dragon au where all the ponies are dragons and nothing else is changed. They are actually quite capable of being serious and handling their responsibilities properly, but they choose not to.
