“wh–” jeongguk’s mouth falls open, unable to comprehend the fact that he’s beencaught, and something akin to dread starts to flood into his limbs, rendering him motionless. “i was just–”
and it’s not like he’s lying when he says that his intentions were innocent, because really, they were. he shouldn’t be looking for his lost phone in his manager’s room, true, but his phone has been taken before anyways, it was just– never without jeongguk knowing–
“i’m sorry,” and jeongguk drops his hands, prepared to drop to the floor and beg for forgiveness because he knows exactly the kind of punishment he might get, and it’d be an exaggeration to say he isn’t terrified, even if he’s trying desperately not to show it on the outside. “i’m sorry, i was just looking for something i lost, i shouldn’t have come in here. i’m really sorry, i can skip out on dinner if you want–”
there’s really no reason for anyone--- let alone an idol --- to be in his office without his permission. but that’s exactly what he sees when he returns from hours of board meetings. if he wasn’t already in a bad mood, he was now, file gripped tightly in hand, jaw clenched as he tries not to sigh. “get the fuck out of my room.” it’s spoken quietly, but harshly, with undertones of the anger that sits silently beneath the surface. jeongguk’s caught off guard, stiffening up almost immediately, eyes blown wide with shock. kade tries not to smirk. it’s no secret that head of talent development is-- in their words, not his--- terrifying.
“jeongguk-ah,” he starts, tone sickeningly sweet, like chiding a small child, “you should know better than to snoop around here.” a couple of steps forward, the thump of his documents against hardwood. “sorry doesn’t cut it, unfortunately.” he circles around, now standing in front of the younger male with hands in his front pockets. “skipping out on dinner? i can’t have one of my idols starving, can i?” his eyes glint dangerously, lips curling into a smile-- one that doesn’t reach his eyes. “tell me, jeongguk, am i that cruel?”
