one moment that stuck out to me from the new chapter (which i loved btw, fabulous, made me grin ear to ear) was dorry referring to the drums of liberation as 宴のリズム/utage no rizumu - "a banquet rhythm." 宴/utage is a word that means 'banquet/feast/party', and it's one that luffy really likes to use, particularly when announcing a celebration at the end of an arc.

in particular, it reminded me of the skypiea party scene:

which is also soundtracked by the ドンドットット/dondottotto beat of the drums of liberation.

i've been thinking for some time about how the lyrics of binks sake relate to the overall themes of the story, especially regarding gear 5, but this panel in particular puts me in mind of a specific line:

波がおどるよ ドラムならせ/nami ga odoru yo, doramu narase

"the waves are dancing, sound the drums!"

Hello! So, SandmanAP on twitter said that, in the original Japanese, the big robot in the latest chapter speaks “like a ten year old”. Can you expand on this? What does that mean?

oh, i can see that, yeah. it's not really the cutesy sort of childish, but the iron giant uses very simple words and simplistic phrasing- short, easy-to-understand statements, like a kid might. and even though its dialogue is written in katakana (a common stylistic choice to indicate a 'robotic/artificial' sounding voice in japanese), it's not uninflected; it ends its sentences with the particle na, which is a seeking-confirmation sort of sentence ending. it makes the tone here seem... uncertain and maybe a little immature, i think?
