thinking about ravonna again. best character i'm not joking. she was wasted on the loki show. also i'm not much of a shipper but i do still feel like people are sleeping on ravonna's obvious ship potential in 3 (three!!!) directions like guysss there's so much here

ravonna/mobius: best friends to enemies to lovers across time and space in a cosmic doomsday cult. with a free (real or imagined) lokius love triangle if that's your kind of thing

ravonna/loki: villainous mirrors and intellectual equals, loyal to their cults even after discovering that they are the monster they've been taught to hunt, cold and ruthless on the surface but deep down they just want somewhere to belong

ravonna/sylvie: obsession, mutually assured destruction, tva as lesbophobia allegory, mutually defining fates via time travel (ravonna ruining sylvie's life as a child vs sylvie/loki as the foundation of hwr's plans for the tva from the beginning), arguably even mutually stealing the other's future (ravonna destroying sylvie's timeline; sylvie/loki rather than ravonna being chosen as heir to hwr)

ohhh hang on the betrayal mobius is talking about is a miscommunication? no-one saw what happened at roxxcart, so no-one knows that loki followed sylvie back to the tva *to try and arrest her*, and then they both had to run because ravonna would’ve happily pruned both of them. so as far as mobius knows, loki didn’t just run when he saw a chance, he was actively planning this.

i still don’t think that’s much to cry about, since, like, prisoners have a right to escape lmao. but i can see why that might unsettle mobius, at least. it’s less pathetic!

and i guess there’s also the angle that mobius thought he’d managed to convince loki that working for the tva was the smart thing to do, in terms of survival, so if loki disagrees, that means he doesn’t actually respect mobius’ judgement? and that was pretty much the one thing mobius had a good reason to believe about their relationship: that there was mutual respect. hmm.

obligatory loki/mobius opinions to match but i have way fewer of them

1. i said they weren’t into each other bc like i literally see do not see it i’m sorry. i know ppl are starving but i can literally think of precisely two (2) Two things i could argue were queerbaity with these two. however. this doesn’t mean i think there is zero potential in their relationship i guess

2. this show did not do enough to develop their relationship or to make mobius stopping being a time cop satisfying, but i can see why you wld enjoy what it thinks it did

so yeah i will never be one of u but shippers can have rights i guess

wait wait wait hang on a second.

so mobius says he’s “studied almost every moment of [loki’s] life”. but “almost” is probably doing quite a lot of work there, right? it’s a long life. and the universe is huge. they’re going to have to skip to the relevant parts.

so what’s our metric for relevance? potential nexus events. events which could potentially have resulted in loki being a different person.

SO here’s a potential implication: the event in the timeloop was not a completely random bad memory selection. it was on the list of options because it was a potential nexus event. we see it going round and round and ending the same way every time no matter what loki does because the tva literally will not allow otherwise. in the timeloop or in reality. (yes, that’s his whole life, but... perhaps this moment more than some others.)

first of all: obviously, i am not blaming sif for loki becoming a supervillain lmao. BUT. the implication that if someone had just been a little more understanding, and a little less vicious, when loki was young and angry and aimlessly rebellious, that could have been the first domino in him... not becoming a supervillain... that’s kind of tragic isn’t it. (yes, we know this, but i like to be able to point to canon and say it agrees with me :))

second of all: mobius believes in what he’s doing and like, it is objectively wrong, but i’m not particularly interested in hating him for it when he is (eventually) so fast to admit he was wrong... but the specific idea that he may have had a role in *killing* other versions of loki for the crime of *being shown mercy* and therefore not becoming as evil as they’re meant to... that’s a LOT. wow.
