A leaf.
I feel like people forget that Otto has Su's approval
Otto question: did he purposefully make the vr version of himself in cherry blossom recall/ae invasion exaggeratedly vapid and heartless because that’s what he thinks about himself?
Otto has an EXTREMELY LOW opinion of himself, so I wouldn't be surprised if this was the case.
His family, when he was a child, kept telling him that he was frail, worthless, not good enough. Kallen arrived and praised his inventor side, so that shifted to: "I have worth for her only if I do something extraordinary", like CURING THE DAMN PLAGUE. He single-handedly cured the plague and never even recognised this for himself. He saved THOUSANDS but he doesn't even acknowledge it.
Then Kallen abandoned him (and this was a fatal error for her and she was extremely selfish and ignorant, because what do you mean you want to save people, save everyone, but you can't be bothered to recognise that the one needing to be saved the most was your best friend, right in front of you, from his horrible family? Makes her Kaslana Oath feel very superficial)
And since then Otto never really recovered. Kallen went and came back, died, and he spent the following five centuries pretty much alone, because aside from trying to find a way to revive Kallen and developing the Valkyrie system, both from a chemical/organic level and a society one, we don't know much of what her did, or who he interacted with. From what we know, aside from Fu Hua whose relationship was a lot on the do ut des side, his first real relationship was with Theresa.
And even Theresa, albeit unconsciously, placed certain expectations on him. He's only worth if he protects the world.
So yeah, Otto doesn't have a high self esteem at all, and doesn't place value on his own life. (Huge error, because I value his life A LOT)

Uhm…
Why I hate the new HSR short
Disclaimer: I used to play HSR but stopped in the early stages of amphoreus. I just need to yell into the void for a bit.
I keep seeing praise given to the new HSR short again and again and again.
"This is so Honkai 3rd!!!" "The Hi3 Animation is back!!"
Its not???? At most it is a lifeless corpse of Hi3 animation??????
I'm a Hi3 veteran, I started playing around 2018 and it just doesn't have the same feel to it. I have so many issues with HSR, but ignoring all that, YOU CAN'T EVEN COMPARE THIS TO HI3??? ESPECIALLY NOT FINNAL LESSON????
Final lesson just feels so put together, each moment tugging at your heart strings, each frame perfectly laid out.
And then HSR comes around and just copies the blanket ideas and not anything that gets to the true core of what made Final lesson so good. Final Lesson Released 7 years ago, but due to its amazing composition It really hasn't aged.
The HSR short looks so cut together, like its a round of gartic phone and they gave 50 animators 20 secs each and then CUT to the next artist. I'm not talking about the frame rate, the actual camera cuts.
On that note, why are they going for the limited frames???? Spiderman Into the Multiverse & Puss in Boots does it bc they are based on Comic books & story books respectively. So why this short???? Its not even done effectively?? They just slashed the frames and did nothing good with it.
It feels creatively empty! ofc there are some cool shots, but they just dont connect!!!
I get its the rule of cool, but its just constantly with zero breaks.
Nothing has build up or wind down!!!! The characters just instantly do a thing, and then move on to the next thing.
next thing,next thing,next thing,next thing,next thing,next thing,next thing,next thing,next thing,next thing,next thing,next thing,next thing,
Get hi3's name out of this short. (hi3 has changed so maybe it should now join hsr)
I love Mobely (Elyden is also good! Same rhetoric) but we need to acknowledge the age gap in those. They’re both way way more fun that way.
Elysia was 20 something
Mobius is described as “almost old enough to be Kalpas’s mother” so she’s probably 15-20 years older than him, and he’s around Elysia’s age or slightly older, so she’s in her late 30s to early 40s probably.
Eden appears to be a peer to her, even if she was somewhat younger than Mobius she was already an accomplished singer when Kevin and co were high schoolers… there’s an age and power gap there…
Heck you can make the same call on Aponia as she’s clearly older than Pardo, had a whole ass job taking care of kids while Pardo was a street rat.
Gimme the age gap yuri
