It wasn't that Katara was ungrateful for a chance to learn to heal from water bending masters. She was! Healing was useful! She'd seen it herself when she'd healed her burned hands. It was a wonderful thing, but it being separated by gender just seemed ... well it seemed stupid. Boys could learn to heal. Girls could learn to fight. Wouldn't it better that everyone was trained in both?

"I'm not saying learning how to heal isn't great," Katara said, "I'm just saying you've never once wanted to learn how to fight?" She asked, looking up at the older girl. "I mean you could keep yourself safe, keep your people safe!" She said. "There's no reason for the boys to learn to fight, and the girls to learn to heal, that's just ..." well she didn't want to call it dumb, but it was. Katara caught herself before it slipped out. "It doesn't make sense. You know I've mostly taught myself, I could teach you a few moves if you wanted."

katara turned her blue eyes to the daughter of the chief, the girl her brother had been mooning over since they got here. ( while sometimes sokka could be a typical teenage boy, she got the sense that how he felt about yue was different. more genuine. ) but she hadn’t spent a lot of time around her. to be honest katara was more than a little ... overwhelmed? intimidated? both. yue was beautiful in ways katara was sure she would never be. and the northern water tribe had been a frustrating let down, where she couldn’t even find a bending master. healing was useful but she could do so much more! 

but she pushed away the feelings for frustration and inadequacy to focus on yue as a friend. this was someone her brother cared about, so this was going to be someone katara was going to care about. a small smile started to pull at her lips, “you feel like you might be ...?” she prompted. “ready to push back against pakku’s dumb and archaic and misogynistic rules about water bending?” she suggested.

Yue! Strong girl Tol girl One day I will make a proper ref for girl 8) What is their favorite fairy tale? Well, she’s a big hopeless romantic so I’d say....hm...fell she would be a sucker for Snow White. A kiss to bring back the one you love, now that’s what she’s talking about! She doesn’t know the original version of it though, just the one her pop would tell her when it was time for bed. 11) How would your character court the person of their dreams? Is this your way of asking how she courted Loralei? Yue, believe it or not, is a very very cheesy girl. She used to binge on listening to those old prewar romcoms so...she went the route of the cliche candle lit dinner.  A homemade warm meal she learned from her mom. Candles she totally didn’t steal from the supply closet in the railroad base. A working radio to set the mood. And all while wearing the cleanest tuxedo she could find. Loralei? She literally looked at the scene then walked out of the church while going “My bad.” She didn’t think it was for her and just went on her mission. Mission failed, we’ll get them next. 21)  How do they display affection? This girl is all about constantly kissing, hugging and handholding. She doesn’t give a shit about PDA social rules! If she wants to kiss her girl in the middle of the bar then motherfucker, she will! Other ways she shows attention though is giving a good hardy meal. Play wrestling. Saying super cheesy things like “I like how your one eye looks like a shiny green rock and the other looks like a shiny blue rock.” (she tries) Lifting up/carrying her girlfriend. This woman is probably the most affectionate woman in the wasteland and she loves her (no longer) touch-starved girlfriend dearly. 41)  Are they comfortable with technology? Depends! Like she’s super cool with synths and robots obviously! She’s apart of the railroad, she’s there to help them escape from horrid lives! Just don’t ask her to hack, she’ll eventually get mad enough to punch it then no one can hack it. In fact, don’t ever let her get a hand on a pipboy. She’ll break that shit against her knee because she wouldn’t know how to switch to the other tabs.
