I think it's really interesting how we can see Quaritch reassessing Neytiri in this moment. Up until this point he really has not taken the Na'vi seriously, and views them as tree huggers who may fight back when attacked, but believes they aren't an actual threat. In this scene Quaritch is threatening to kill Kiri in order to get Jake to stand down, and it's only when Neytiri is willing to inflict that same violence and threatens to kill Spider that he begins to take her seriously
