Adam to Belle: "This is the right thing to do, and you know it."
Adam and Belle Explosions in the SkyA/N:It's long so I'm putting it under readmore. And tagging it with a tw.
The next morning they got up and Belle groggily got ready to leave. Adam helped her out the door and into the car. Belle leaned her head against the window, still feeling dizzy. The car came to a halt and Belle placed her hand on Adam’s shoulder, she was feeling sick again. She opened the door and stumbled to a bush kneeling down. Belle felt Adam’s hand on her back and she gave him a weary smile. She brushed a thumb across his cheek, “I’m fine. It’s okay.” she reassured him. He helped her up and they checked in. While they waited Belle leaned her head on his shoulder closing her eyes, drifting off for a moment. She was startled when her name was called and opened her eyes, blinking almost confused. Pushing herself off the chair, Adam began to follow her, but Belle shook her head. “It’s okay. I’ll be fine. Really.” Adam opened his mouth to protest but Belle shook her head again. “Adam.” She said quietly and he sat back down. Walking slowly over to the nurse Belle gave Adam a smile before disappearing in the back.
The doctor had prescribed Belle some medicine that would help with her nausea and it did, she was sleeping better but there was still something lingering on her mind, but she kept it from Adam. About a two weeks later, Belle checked mail to find the letter that she had been waiting. Sitting on the couch she opened it with trembling fingers, reading it, shaking the whole time. A smile danced up on her face and Adam walked through the door. “What? What’s going on?” Belle motioned for Adam to sit by her and handed him the note. “I’m not getting sick because I’m sick. I’m getting sick because I’m…pregnant. I’m pregnant Adam, we’re gonna have a baby. I’m about seven weeks along. “ She smiled brightly and placed a hand on her stomach, as tears fell down her face, she was grinning so brightly though, She took Adam’s hands. “A baby. We’re gonna have a baby.” She repeated. Belle watched as Adam’s eyes grew wide but soon his face to turned into a smile, he picked up Belle spinning her around, kissing her, and they laughed, filled with joy.
Over the next two months they prepared for the baby. Picking out colours for the nursery, She wanted Yellow but a very specific yellow, warm and loving, he did whatever she wanted. One evening after a doctor’s appointment Belle was sitting in a rocking chair they bought, reading a baby book. Her stomach was starting to grow but as of today, the doctors put on Belle on moderate bed rest, just as a precaution, better safe then sorry. She rubbed her belly, looking up at Adam. “The baby needs a name. I was just reading about how you are supposed to talk to your baby while they are still in the womb, but I don’t want to call them, baby. They need a name.” Adam looked up at Belle and wiped his brow, he had been busily putting the crib together. “We don’t even know if the baby will be a boy or a girl, how can we call the baby a name if we don’t know.” He asked with a shrug. “I don’t know, besides, my mother keeps asking and you know Mrs. Potts will want to know. Let’s just throw some out. For a boy. I like Michael. Or Theo. I like that. And girl, I like Beatrice. Or Lacy. Charlotte. can call her Charlie. Or Lottie. I like that.” Belle felt uncomfortable and adjusted her herself. “What do you think?” Adam came over to Belle and placed a kiss on her forehead, “I like whatever you like. Oh you’re a bit warm. Let me open the window.” Adam moved over to the window, letting in some cool air. Belle shifted in her chair again. “I’ll be right back, I’m gonna get some water, do you want anything?” Belle shook her head and picked up her book again, “I’ll be fine.” Belle rubbed her belly again, “What do you think. What do you like. “Michael, Or Theo. Are you a Lacy, what about a Charlotte,” She felt twinge, “Oh Charlotte it is then. Okay. Charlie. I like that. Hello Char—ow.” Belle felt another twinge, she just couldn’t get comfortable. As she moved though she felt something running down her leg. “What?” She whispered, looking down she saw it was red, blood.
For a moment she couldn’t move or speak but then the blood started to run faster. She got up slowly and screamed, “Adam! Adam!” She grabbed her stomach and tears running down her cheeks. “Adam!” He came dashing up the stairs. “What, what happened” “Help!” She cried. “The baby!” The blood was running down her legs and the pain she felt in her stomach was severe. Adam didn’t know what to do, he just picked her up, grabbed his keys and ran out the door. Belle was in pain, and her breathing was shallow. “No. No. No.” She kept repeating. Just outside their building was a cop and he saw Adam looking frantic. “What’s wrong, Hey, hey” Adam shook his head a scared look in his eye.”My—my wife, she—” “Hold on son, I’ll drive you.” The officer led Adam to the car and they sat in the back, Belle sobbing. “Please, it hurts. My baby, can’t. No.” She was babbling. The sirens turned on and they were in at the hospital in minutes. Adam carried Belle out of the car and into the emergency room, the officer running ahead to let them know. They put Belle on a gurney, ripping her away from Adam’s arms. “Please, no. I need him.” “Ma’am, Ma’ma, we will get him but first I need to you to take a deep breath. How far along are you.” “Two and half months, almost three.” “Okay, we are going to take care of you.” “And my baby right.” The nurse looked up at the doctor, “Yes, the baby too.”
After about two days Belle was released from the hospital. The look on her face was blank, and she was silent the whole way home. Tears ran down her face but she made no sound, and when they got home, Belle just walked into their bedroom, slamming the door. From the other side, Adam could hear sobbing but he didn’t go in there. Their was nothing he could do and doctors said she just needed time to herself for awhile. There was nothing in the house, for days, just muffled sobbing. Mrs. Potts, Logan, Cory, her parents all tried to come and see her but Belle wouldn’t come out of the room. “Belle they are worried about you, I’m worried about you. Please come out, This is the right thing to do, and you know it. You can’t do this by yourself and these people care about you. Please Belle.” Nothing. Adam didn’t know what to do. And he was scared.
When Belle finally did come out she just stood in front of the nursery, her hand on the door. Finally she went in. The crib still unfinished, toys left on the floor, a picture frame that would hold their first picture as a family still hanged on the wall. She picked up a toy, holding it close, closing her eyes. “I’m afraid, the chances of you having a child are very slim, Nearly impossible. Should you get pregnant again and if you miscarry those chances become even more slim and with great risk to you. I’m sorry” Belle squeezed the stuffed toy and tears welled in her eyes. She threw the toy down and began to dismantle the room. Why did her baby die? How come she would never be able to hold her own child close to her heart and sing them to sleep. Or wipe their tears when they were sad. She took every picture frame, every toy and and threw it on the ground. She would have been a wonderful mother, and she knew Adam would have would have been a wonderful father. They would have given the baby all the love and joy a child deserved, given the baby the world. Adam entered the room and grabbed her but she just started pounding on his chest before her legs gave out and they slid to the floor. “I’m sorry.” He shook his head and kissed her forehead. “I’m sorry I lost our baby. I’m sorry. ” She felt his chest heave and looked up to see him start to cry. This wasn’t just happening to Belle, Adam had suffered loss too. The look on his face when she told they were going to have a baby, how he lit up. Wrapping her arms around him tighter, they sat in their broken nursery, crying for the baby that would never be theirs.
