There are so many characters in Teen Wolf who have things in common with Scott - Derek and his first love dying in his arms, Isaac and his abusive father // except scott mccall is NOT an abuse victim in canon. rafael cheated on his wife but he never abused his son. scott's most traumatic experience was accidentally being pushed down the stairs by his dad, something that he doesn't even remember in canon by the way. and it was just an accident, it has nothing to do with abuse unlike isaac's case.

The point still stands, Scott knows how it is to have a shit (relationship with your) dad. Of course Isaac had it much worse, but Scott should’ve still had a clue and dealt with it better.

And on top of all of that, it is framed as a joke, with no critique, no apology, nothing. // Right? And it happens twice in the same ep, the second time simply because Isaac was near Allison. The worst part, aside from it being treated as a joke both times, is that it's treated like it's just, there. Like it's just another scene and not a big deal. When in fact it's a huge fucking deal and something that needed to be talked about and needed an apology.

those whole two scenes are just an utter mess. They add nothing to the show except.. well Isaac admitting his crush (which was obvious before that already), and Scott showing he’s not over her and handling that veeery badly (which was already set up in S2, so no surprise either). Oh, and that Melissa is an awful parent, cause she overlooks Scotts flaws, no matter how glaringly obvious they are.

But imho if you read the scene like that, Scott asserting his dominance, it doesn’t really matter whether he’s an Alpha or just a Senior Werewolf, it still has the same effect. // Exactly. No matter how you look at that scene, what you have is him getting violent towards an abuse victim and a member of his pack over a girl. And that has NOTHING to do with him not having control because he and Allison broke up, it's all him being jealous and feeling entitled and possessive over Allison.

"Yes they play him throwing Issac against walls for laughs but I also got 'This is how Alpha Scott asserts his werewolf dominance over his pack'" Scott wasn't even an alpha so no? You can do the whole 'Scott had a pack and was the senior ww and therefore he's the alpha of his pack'. But even with that, he threw an abuse victim into a wall for having the apparent audacity to like a girl that Scott felt was "his" even tho they were broken up. THAT'S how the scene played out.

I think it was just in the time when Scott was struggling with his strength and just before he became a ‘True Alpha’, wasn’t it? But imho if you read the scene like that, Scott asserting his dominance, it doesn’t really matter whether he’s an Alpha or just a Senior Werewolf, it still has the same effect.

But like you point out and I said before, I think it has more to do with Scott’s character and his feeling of entitlement. And I don’t buy the ‘oh but he was struggling so much with his control’ excuse that some people pull. Cause the scene started out calm and just two people talking, one confessing a crush, and ended up with a jealous idiot physically punishing someone who trusts him & who had a history of domestic abuse, because he dared to have feelings for his ex-girlfriend. Petty in every way. And don’t get me started on Melissas reaction.

"True Alpha my Ass" is just so correct. I wanted to point out the thing I take issue with in the Scott/Issac dynamic; Yes they play him throwing Issac against walls for laughs but I also got 'This is how Alpha Scott asserts his werewolf dominance over his pack' like when Issac was terrorizing Stiles, Derek's method of asserting dominance was basically to growl Issac into submission. There was no unnecessary violence. Like let's just keep Stiles as the comic relief cause Scott is terrible at it

ooh that’s a very good observation! I missed that before, but it’s true, as much as Derek was painted as a horrible Alpha, when Isaac went wild on his first fullmoon Derek stopped him simply by roaring at him and thus kept him from ripping Stiles apart.

Scott on the other hand has to chain Liam ( & Malia) up and then ask Derek for help.

I don’t buy the interpretation of the Isaac/Scott scene though. That had nothing to do with asserting his status. He was a jealous, possessive ass right there. I mean, Isaac didn’t even do anything, he only admitted his crush on Allison. Only a complete jerk would get jealous over someone having a crush. (And of course even if something had happened that would warrant feelings of jealousy, it’s still no excuse to hurt someone, even less an abuse victim that fucking trusts you. OH GOD I HATE THAT SCENE SO MUCH.)
