I'm rewatching Season 1 and I'm so mad... First he said that the Argents had a reason to burn down Dereks entire family and then he blames him on the murder of Laura and all the other people. Nice. Real nice. This poor guy has some issues and wasn't super nice to you, yes, but what the fuck. "Oh yeah, your own fault your family is dead. And I'm also gonna blame you on killing your remaining sister. Scott out." I can't believe this. I want to see him fall down to villain and everyone leaving.

canon confirms that Scott McCall is the kind of person who would tell a rape victim and abuse survivor that the murderers who set his whole family *including CHILDREN* on fire had a valid reason to kill them.

to be fair, scott didn’t know exactly what Derek went through at that point. On the other hand it doesn’t matter, it’s shitty no matter to who you say it.

Can you imagine how great teen wolf would have been if it followed Boyd and Derek's pack instead of scott? And Stiles was the nosy kid who figured out something was going on and found out the secret? I could even see Boyd becoming a true alpha... He was just a more interesting character and was acted significantly better. We could have had it alllllllllll!

Lol, Scott's Stan - and Scott - always come with their shit of "never wanted to be a werewolf" "never wanted to be bitten". I understand that Scott never asked to be bitten, but I hate the fact that he is so selfish and thinks only of himself. Scott never thought how horrible it could be for Derek to bite someone against his will, even knowing how awful it was to get the bite without asking. Pero Scott, "the poor boy," could not see the similarities.

I find that even more striking when it’s about Liam actually. Liam got bitten without wanting it. Liam got a bad alpha who couldn’t train him. And now Liam gets handed a torch he doesn’t even want, by an Alpha that thinks that ‘You’ll figure it out’ will teach someone how to become an Alpha.

I can cut Scott some slack when it comes to being a self centered teen in the first seasons and not understanding that adults can struggle, too. But by now he should have learned, especially when it comes to understanding someone younger who goes through basically the same as he did...

"True Alpha my Ass" is just so correct. I wanted to point out the thing I take issue with in the Scott/Issac dynamic; Yes they play him throwing Issac against walls for laughs but I also got 'This is how Alpha Scott asserts his werewolf dominance over his pack' like when Issac was terrorizing Stiles, Derek's method of asserting dominance was basically to growl Issac into submission. There was no unnecessary violence. Like let's just keep Stiles as the comic relief cause Scott is terrible at it

ooh that’s a very good observation! I missed that before, but it’s true, as much as Derek was painted as a horrible Alpha, when Isaac went wild on his first fullmoon Derek stopped him simply by roaring at him and thus kept him from ripping Stiles apart.

Scott on the other hand has to chain Liam ( & Malia) up and then ask Derek for help.

I don’t buy the interpretation of the Isaac/Scott scene though. That had nothing to do with asserting his status. He was a jealous, possessive ass right there. I mean, Isaac didn’t even do anything, he only admitted his crush on Allison. Only a complete jerk would get jealous over someone having a crush. (And of course even if something had happened that would warrant feelings of jealousy, it’s still no excuse to hurt someone, even less an abuse victim that fucking trusts you. OH GOD I HATE THAT SCENE SO MUCH.)

Well, I guess Derek also has stans who can't separate reality from fiction and think anyone not thinking their fav is perfect means they're haters and problematic to real persons.

I still kinda thing it was a misunderstanding, but hey, there’s crazy stans for ever character, right? I just don’t get it, cause i happen to love my characters flawed. Give them all the flaws. let them struggle with themselves, with others, with life in general. Let them be mediocre at things, or even right out bad. So much more interesting and realistic than Mary Sues and Gary Stues (not saying those should be forbidden either, cause they got their places, and i’m all here for people dreaming and getting hope from that and all, but only if it doesn’t end up in hate towards anyone who doesn’t agree with that fantasy)

I see him more as a second in command I guess?//Ah, yes, Scott is bad True ALpha, but Derek is worse even than that. How many times we have to repeat this actual 100% bullshit because we hate Derek and want him to be down and on his knees because he's useless follower, right? That's great headcanon, not damaging at all.

uhm ?? I don’t hate Derek at all. I think he doesn’t deserve all the hate he gets, and I think he tried his best to be a good Alpha, but he did make big mistakes, because he wasn’t ready for this and the odds were stacked against him in every way. That doesn’t excuse anything that Scott did to him though, and I absolutely despise Scotts plan to use Derek against Gerard.

But I also don’t think that Derek would, under normal circumstances, choose to be an Alpha, if he had a choice. That doesn’t mean he wouldn’t care and fight for his pack with all he got or that he might not actually become a great Alpha if he finally got a proper chance, but I personally just feel like he’d be more comfortable as a Beta, standing right next to his Alpha. (And no, I wouldn’t want that Alpha to be Scott, not ever)

And that’s of course just a headcanon of mine, but I don’t see how that’s damaging to anyone.

I have issues with the pack mom mentality in fics because people tend to use it solely to make the ship more heteronormative - maybe even if it's just unconsciously. But also, with Stiles, I think having people call him Mom is insensitive (just as it would be to call Derek Dad when he isn't their Dad and lost his parents too). I read one fic where Stiles reacted badly to being called Mom because his own had died. That's one fic I really liked.

Those are two very interesting points!

I never like it when ~the bottom~ (for the lack of a better word) is made reeeally feminine, overemotional, caring and even whiny when that’s absolutely not part of his actual character. Cause then it really seems like the writer is just trying to make him more girly for the sake of heteronormativity. I want my guys be guys, that’s why I read slash, you know.

And yeah, I also don’t think either one of them would want to see themselves as a parental figure in any canon (divergent) setting.

What also really annoys me about it is, when they make the pack ooc and behave like 8 year olds even though they are still supposed to be 16... it’s just so weird..

That fic you talk about sounds interesting tho :) like it kinda challenges that trope
