While Duchess had been afraid that she would go through the pregnancy alone, she knew now that it was not to be. Little Marie. Her darling Marie was by her side as much as she could be. After their first trip to the hospital, Duchess had told her that she still needed to focus on her studies, to continue working towards her future. But if the youngest Bonfamille (and only Bonfamille that spoke to her) wanted a day to be with her Tantine? Well, Duchess did not detest it at all.
In fact, it was her idea that they take the train to the Next Town Over to shop for the necessities she would need for when the twins finally arrived. A much needed distraction for Duchess with everything currently going on in her own life.
And while Duchess was excited for this trip, it seemed Marie was even more excited. How it seemed she survived being the only girl in the house, she did not know. It made her feel somewhat bad for missing so much of the young girl’s life. But she felt she was more than making up for it now.
“Marie, darling, I know you are excited but you must slow down,” Duchess chuckled, adjusting her purse and the bag she held from the store they’d just left. “The stores will still be there even if we take things slow.”
