The Wolf of Dunwall)
(my friend showed me this, I haven’t read all of it but it’s delightful) But what if Corvo did not have to hurt either Slackjaw or Granny Rags so she goes free and merry about her witchy business. Daud while he’s fleeing Dunwall encounters Granny Rags, and she sees through the void, she stops him and starts rambling, knowing that Daud has hurt so many people. She knows what he’s done, and she feeds into his guilt and anger, telling him his hands will never be clean - he should lose his hands. He wallows in filth and dirt and blood, he can’t fix his past he rips and bites and tears into everything good and makes it bad. She tells him this and says she’ll help him feed his ego. Help him cope with him being him. She turns him into a wolf. It’s a violent and excruciating process and is left shaking, trying to flail out of his old clothes. The stitches he had from Corvo’s fight don’t fit his new skin and tug at his fur, he’s sent through more pain. Granny Rags muzzles him, hits him, calls him a stupid mutt. He should make good money in the fighting pits if he lives long enough - but decides to send him as a gift.... Daud barely blinks his eyes and he feels a surge of movement, nauseating and finds himself in an upscale garden - it looks familiar, but his eyesight is a myriad of blues and yellows and greys, he’s confused, in pain, and feeling a great deal of pressure building up in his nose, wait, snout, from the muzzle. Against his best intentions for self preservation he starts audibly showing his frustration, but it comes out as a wolf’s crying. Which makes him more upset, so he cries more. He desperately is throwing himself against the ground to come out of his old shirt, trying to rub off the stiches so it stops pulling at his fur and skin, and tries to rip off the muzzle that’s suffocating him with his claws. He ends up hurting himself and guards here the commotion coming from the garden and go to investigate. They all but tackle him and try to hold him still as they start yelling - wondering how an animal like this got into the Tower - Daud starts to realize where he is and goes into a sheer panic, from pain, from circumstance, etc. He manages to wriggle free and his old shirt comes off and the stitches get caught in his buttons in the process and rip from his body. He runs up the stairs, towards the waterlock but the door is shut, and guards start trying to herd around him to trap him. Daud runs but the bleeding in his sides and forelegs from old wounds make him lightheaded and weak. He runs into the tower, trying to find a low window to run through, find an escape...he had to learn the layout of the tower for the assassination, he knows it like the back of his hand, but he’s overwhelmed by all the noises, the smells, it’s overwhelmingly confusing. Fatigued, losing blood, struggling to breathe, Daud turns a corner in the dining hall and smacks right into young Lady Emily. He falls down, exhausted, and she being the sweet heart she is immediately goes to cocmfort the wild animal who’s clearly in pain. When Daud wakes up he’s been partially shaved and stitched where his wounds are, with a soft leather cage around jaws instead of a tight muzzle, he’s on a leather leash and Corvo is standing over him. Over the next couple weeks they start trusting him more as he becomes more docile, calm, used to and accepting his new fate. Emily becomes very attached to him and Corvo admits that he’s noticed the wolf is quite protective of little Emily. ------------------------------- During this time Daud is repeatedly internally humiliated as Corvo comforts him with scratching him between his ears and Daud REGRETS how much he enjoys it and unwillingly releases noises of approval and dog-like pleasure...and he wants more of it. He also doesn’t find himself feeling pride when Emily comes to give him pets and scratches and he just feels uncomfortable....until she scratches the flat rise between his rear hips.....scratching above his tail. He hates how his head tilts up, his eyes close, and his leg starts twitching and thumping from how good it feels. ....He misses having thumbs so much, he misses having arms....He never realized how much he itches until he can’t do it for himself. Sokolov also finds something very familiar about the wolf and is very offset by the wolf. There’s a weird pranking war between the genius inventor and the doggo.
