public i guess. bang-woo comes off as a remarkably excitable and cheerful adult considering he seems to spend his childhood in like, a fugue of murder-stoicism-philosophy
i just wanted to thank you for introducing me to samon-kun wa summoner and houkenshitsu no shinigami because hades-sensei and samon are both so Fucking Weird in their own delightful ways and i love them so much. they've got no idea how to function in human society and it's hilarious
Samon’s Scum vs Hades’ unrelenting kindness and desire to help and pure joy at feeling needed. fight
has anyone ever gotten sick of greg and his manipulative bs and tried to like, physically fight him?
greg picks his relationships carefully, and his manipulative bs is subtle; he doesn’t do it to everyone. i think he probably gets the sense that audrey wouldn’t put up with it, and he wants to have a girlfriend, so he doesn't mess with her. derick get sick of it at some point, but he doesn’t fight him
sorry to bother you, but would it be possible to play nier automata without playing the first game? like and understand the story (and do you recommend the first game?)
Hi! I got the same question a few days ago and I my answer was:
The short answer is: No, if you blink or don’t know about it, you’ll not even pick up that the characters are refering to events which have happened in the previous game. You can find notes while playing Automata, some show you snippets from the previous game or what happened afterwards but they’re mostly very cryptic and don’t play a big role. It’s just something you collect on your way.
The long answer is: No, because Automata plays in the universe of the previous game’s Ending D, in which the protagonist sacrifices himself for Kainé’s survival but through informations scattered through Automata I’m pretty sure that the events of the first game still happened but not as we saw them in the previous game. The National Weapons Laboratory still experimented on Emil and his sister Halua, Devola and Popola are still part of the reason why the Gestalt project failed and I’m pretty sure that Emil and Kainé met somewhere along their way, at least Emil’s house is fashioned after Kainé’s. So, the events of the first game did happen but at that point none of us know what happened or not because with Nier’s sacrifices he deleted his doing in bringing down the Shadowlord and Project Gestalt but we still saw, after he was gone, that Kainé and his daughter, Yonah stood together in that room, which means that the timeline shifted itself to a new story in which Kainé still ended up in the castle and probably defeated the Shadowlord herself because somehwere the timeline had to repair itself to explain Nier’s disappearance away.
The thing is: If you play the first game, you already know what happened and one of the biggest plot twist in Automata is not a plot twist anymore because you already knew that from the first game. I’ll not going to tell you what I’m talking about because that would be super shitty of me but for me, personally, it wasn’t a plot twist anymore because it already was the major plot twist in the first game but it still was the final nail in the coffin which told me that yes, the events of the first game are still present and affect the plot of Automata.
Of course, I would recommend the first game to literally anyone because it’s my favorite video game and holds a very special place in my heart but I still think it’s a gem most gamer’s overlooked. Is it perfect? Hell no. The gameplay isn’t the best and a lot of people complained about the graphics but if you love deeply disturbing plots with a lot of emotional baggage, then go for it. NieR is the only game which made me not want to fight my enemies because they stepped away from being faceless shadows and literally became humans with a story.
It’s honestly a great game and it has a cool magical system and a sassy book. I could go on and on and tell you ten different stories why I love this game so much but I think it’s worth it.
If you like, you can watch a few walkthroughs or scenes and then decide if you want to go for it but I have to say that it’s far more emotional and compelling if you play it yourself.
sorry about the archive bing lmao
You're fine ♡
