“niklaus, finally you’ve come for a visit.”
@anditsxsorrows
“perhaps you should simply kill him.”
@inprometheanfire
new guests at his hotel were always a curiosity to him. he liked to play a little game of ‘should i or shouldn’t i murder them?’. it certainly did help with passing the time. most of the time the scale tipped towards murder. certainly that was the easiest and most thrilling of options. he lived for such thrills. lived, he used ironically. he was after all dead. a bleak existence in the confines of what should have been his greatest achievement. he figured why not taint the place a deep shade of red. it was all he had left. he watches the girl now, she seems lost in the maze of endless halls and elaborate structures he designed. he knows them all too well, that even in life he had never once taken an ill step. the young lady has an air to her that says she’s on another plain, dreamy. the dreamers are always very touching. with big bright eyes and hope on their tongue. it was rather a different sport to kill a real true bred dreamer. certainly killing their dream was actually the best way to go about it.
he steps out in front of her then. wanting to shock. he’s always liked to rile people up. so they would always think of him. immortal. he liked the feeling. being dead most certainly did have it’s perks. “watch your step, little one, you don’t want to stumble into something ugly. this place can be rather ghoulish around this time of night, my dear.”

after two short and passing conversations he had deemed her an interesting enough creature. although he supposed part of that must be her involvement with the law. how he loathed the law and all it stood for. his hate was a hollow thing, he felt such things were always best left without much depth. a man could go mad with emotion alone. and he much preferred to have his wits around him. especially if he was going to have this pestering little thing snooping around his business. if that was in fact what she was doing. he was determined to get to the bottom of the situation. hence was the reason for this over the top soiree. and the reason he lavished all his attention on her. he thought to loosen her up a little, make her warm up to him. it was typically an easy task for him to sway people. he didn’t think she would be so difficult. and if it should turn up that she was in fact snooping on matters of his private affairs he could simply kill her he could still that. it depended on his mood tonight. he was still riding a good enough high from the praise of his party.
it was the first time he left her side the whole night. but it’s brief. just to deal with some people here, doing their best to make sure that they get their cut of his empire. funny how eager and greedy the hands of los angeles were. he dismissed them and made his way back to her. handing her a fresh drink as he sets in his spot next to her. everyone seemed to know it was his spot. he didn’t have to struggle for it. there was some pleasure to that as well. “i hope you’re not here to take my alcohol away. certainly my parties wouldn’t be the same without it.”

“now you actually have my attention.”

pouring himself a drink he gestures for the man to sit across from him. “when i lived i had a love hate relationship with journalists. nasty hogs, the whole lot of them. from my understanding you had a story to write. something to tell. a ghost story. quite the tale. unfinished work is always a sour spot, isn’t it? must infuriate you. all these people running in and out of here with their whole lives ahead of them. like that insufferable real estate agent. a real story would be if she were to die.”

“well, isn’t this awkward? i know what you want to hear, a sincere apology. but i never say sorry. and it’s hardly done you any harm. immortality has it’s perks, does it not, my dear? don’t hold it against me. make the most out of your existence here. lighten up. it’s not like i can kill you again.”

sitting down at the kitchen bar he leans upon the smooth surface. his eyes on the maid. he’s forgotten her name even after all this time. but it’s refreshening knowing that this place as vile and ghastly boring as it can be has offered the lot of them a staff at least. “maid, i’m postively parched. pour me another, will you?”
