As it wasn't widely publicized, Perona knowing that Luffy defeated Crocodile probably came from Moriah. It is interesting to me that she's referencing the events of Alabasta instead of the more recent Enies Lobby, but maybe she thought the Straw Hats would rob one of his casinos or something.

Either way, it's a nice little hint that Perona keeps her pulse on what's really going on in the world rather than depending just on the newspapers.
