Padme almost–almost–froze in the middle of the fight, her eyes widening at the comment, meeting Hades’ across the room. Before she could let her guard down, however, she jabbed her elbow into the larynx of her attacker, stomped on his foot, and knocked him over the head with the edge of her staff. She took a deep breath, threw her hair out of her face, nudged the man with her boot to make sure he was knocked out, then finally jogged over to her boyfriend.
“Technically, you haven’t asked yet,” she said, pressing a kiss to his cheek. They’d talked about marriage, talked about proposing, and they both knew about Achilles’ rings.
At that moment, there was a crash from somewhere to their left, and Padme raised her staff again, the end glowing bright green. “We’re going to talk about this later!” she called to Hades, blew him a kiss, then ran off to continue the battle.
It just... slipped out. He had been surprised as well, the sudden outburst brimming with pride and adrenaline as he jammed an arrow into a gremlin’s neck. It had only occurred to him several moments after that he had indeed called Jude his wife when she was in fact... not.
He was slightly pink as she pressed a kiss against his cheek, gaze following her helplessly as she ran off to continue the fight.
“Super smooth.” He heard someone drawl beside him. He sneered and pulled back his arrow, aiming high to knock down some ugly winged creatures this volcano of doom seemed to be spewing non-stop. “Keep your comments to yourself, Pansy.” He growled under his breath as the mage sidled up next to him, her own staff glowing bright orange as she dug her heel into a monster’s neck.
“I’m just saying I’m really impressed. You managed to snag a ridiculously good looking mystic and you’re... well...” She gestured towards him vaguely before letting out a tinkling laugh “You’re this”. He grumbled petulantly under his breath, eyes drifting to Jude almost unconsciously, only to have a small smile tug at his lips.
“You don’t understand... I just... I love her.” Another arrow straight into a troll’s eye.
Pansy let out a dry heave before scowling at Hades in response.
“Next time you plan to get all gross, put an arrow through me.”
“Believe me, I’m very close to doing so.”
“Did Hades just call you his wife?”
“Did you three have a wedding without us?”
“Guys, I need a little help here!”
Gemini rolled her eyes as she hopped over a few more monsters to pull Jared out of some quicksand, Forest following not too far behind her. She gripped at her guild mate’s shoulder before heaving him up and pulling him to the small circle of death (Jared’s formation name, not her’s) they had made, turning to look at Jude expectantly.
