Luna looked up from the family book on the kitchen table, the birds were starting their morning songs, the light touching the world as the sun woke up, waking up the rest of the world along with it. Wouldn’t be long until Luca joined her she was sure of it, if it wasn’t the smell off the incense she was burning that woke him, it would surely be her absence. Even rooms apart the two of them always seemed to feel when the other was out of place, or farther away than should be. Part of the twin thing, they had assumed.
She took a sip of her tea, making a mental note of the things she would need to run out and see if she could find throughout town as well as the wood behind their home. Living on the outskirts of town definitely had it’s perks, their parents saw to that. She missed them a little more than usual this morning, sure most of the wounds had healed, but this morning in particular, something seemed...familiar. It felt as if her mother would come in any second, flowers and herbs in hand, two of her favorite things. Like their father could have been in the backyard, saying good morning to the hummingbirds by the feeder, the same one’s who had been absent since their passing. It was a strange feeling, but Luna embraced it, knowing soon at least the family she had left would be in soon to give her comfort.
