There was a good chance that Nari was going to kill Maia in her sleep and it was all Youngwook’s fault. Maia knew he was shameless, but she never expected to have him show up at the company building. Really, she only had herself to blame after using practice as an excuse to avoid him after the awkward encounter with the rest of Triton at the Wingspan building. She found him in her favorite practice room, with two cups of coffee. Maia didn’t want to be tempted, but she gratefully took the cup and inhaled deeply.
“How did you know I’d be here?” she asked.
“The trainees here are very helpful. They saw I was lost and led me right to here.” He winked.
Of course they did. She couldn’t blame them. Maia had known him in the biblical sense more times than she could count on both hands and she still stuttered if he smiled at her for too long. Of course, that did not mean she was happy about it.
“No need to pout,” he said, leaning forward. “You are still my favorite member of Prism.”
Maia was sure he said that to every person he encountered, but that didn’t stop her from flushing. Stupid, stupid. She knew he was just playing with her, but she couldn’t control her heart from trying to beat out of her chest and into his arms instead.
“Don’t you have filming today?” Maia asked. Youngwook smirked, clearly noticing her dodging his comment.
“Strangely, they seemed to think I had practice today,” he said.
“We did until Junwoo seemed to come down with the flu. Can’t very well function without our leader.”
“Please tell me you didn’t give Junwoo the flu.”
Youngwook didn’t say anything. Maia sighed. Sometimes, she felt like the older one in this relationship.
“Well, you told me not to lie to you-”
“He’ll be fine in a few days. It was mild. You know I don’t have the ingredients to kill him. Besides, it would be a pain in the ass to replace him.”
Something told Maia Youngwook had that conversation with himself before doing whatever he did to make sure Junwoo would be out today. She wondered if she should go to Junwoo’s place and give him a remedy under the guise of chicken soup. As if reading her mind, Youngwook placed his coffee down and took hers as well.
“How about I warm you up first?”
Before she could argue, he had placed an arm around her waist and clasped her hand with another. It took her a moment to realize what motions he was leading her through.
“You can waltz?” she asked.
“A bit. Admittedly, the last time I did was with Joontae while he was drunk. Hojun took pictures.”
She wasn’t sure how long they went around the room. No music played. There was no way to figure out when the dance ended. Before she quite new what was happening, he had dipped her. She laughed and without quite thinking, kissed him.
The door to the practice room slammed. Maia pulled away from Youngwook and met the eyes of Cha Nari. Lily, the beloved beauty of the kpop industry, looked splotchy around her face, as if she was containing her rage. Maia internally flinched. She couldn’t even blame her. It was incredibly unprofessional of Maia to be fooling around the practice room with Youngwook; Youngwook, who also happened to be Nari’s type. Without another word, Maia turned around and walked out.
Oh fuck, Maia was going to die.
