i personally think one aspect of togiri that appeals to me the most is how byakuya essentially views kyoko as an equal to him and the (gesture) inherent sense of trust brought up by that feeling. i like to imagine how it manifests in the little things ie byakuya being generally picky but would be more willing to try things if kyoko recommends it. commoner sweets? “if you insist… but only one piece.” cheap coffee? “it can’t be that good, but sure, if you insist.” learning how to cook? he would stare at her like she’s grown a second head at first but the concept of Kirigiri Knowing Things I Don’t annoys him and so.

really it’s such wasted potential to not have any canon interactions between izuru and non/post-despair nagito who has learned about izuru’s nature. my thesis is nagito would hate izuru sooo much (which is ship fuel for Me) mainly because izuru stands against what nagito has come to believe about talent and inherent worth plus his involvement in spreading despair despite being made for hope. flashback to nagito’s posthumous message where he talks about wanting to become the main character/the ultimate hope vs. his coping subconscious in 2.5. izuru is both everything and nothing like the person nagito wants to be. it’ll probably be somewhat fun for izuru to have a guy who consistently tries to evoke his past reserve course identity too…

you ever think about how (despair era) izuru and post-despair nagito’s dynamic would be like. nagito who has learned of izuru’s origins and is on his way to healing and probably in a positive-looking situationship with hajime. i personally to imagine nagito feels Really conflicted about izuru as izuru reminds him of his past deeds and embodies the dark side of hope among other reasons, yet unable to stop caring for him for how izuru relates to hajime. izuru who lacks relevant context couldn’t wholly see nagito like how he sees and treats servant and is somewhat fascinated (question mark) by this change in character… post-canon crack fic concept where hajime and izuru swap place for whatever reason and nagito has to be izuru’s keeper to prevent him from freaking anyone on the island out LMFAO

[still rewatching season 1] it’s unreal how happy the hameron in season 1 made me. on rewatch it’s the little things that gives context to what unfolds at the end of vogler arc which, in turn, makes them increasingly convincing to me. their chemistry is excellent and resonates with me so much…

honestly if i have to explain to people why i really really came to adore hameron it can just be boiled down to she was nice to him and he reciprocated (and, again, big deal since we’re talking about house). not to mention their dynamic is highly constructive to their respective characters and i believe their short dinner date arc is genuinely good writing: clear motivations for the characters involved and the conflict, resolution, and conclusion are just neatly presented without unnecessary plot twists for the sake of edginess or drama.

my favorite version of hameron is indeed platonic but not without the romantic-adjacent tension because it it wouldn’t be. them. their dynamic provides so much insight to their characters for me and that’s as much for house as it is for cameron—if not even more so. season 1 was so fucking good.

speaking of tropes tho i find the treatment of “doggy characters” between the eastern vs western sides of the fandom so amusing. portraying dog-type little guys as subs is kinda universal but definitely a lot more prevalent in the western side because in the eastern side it’s so much easier to run into the crazy mentally ill dom doggies gang. “i’m really worried about you 🥺” “please don’t leave me 🥺” -> some concoction of possessiveness + neediness + abandonment issues + insecurity + helplessness + etc. -> (exploit people’s common perception of them) (manipulate by taking advantage of others’ soft spot for them) (contemplating locking their partner up in a tower) (more flavor if said partner presents as calm, cold, and/or more put-together)

honestly in terms of aesthetics and interactions i slightly favor sunday hypothetically joining the stellaron hunters than astral express but i’ve been warming up to the latter real quick… like. wow. the “evil rep” of penacony can now be considered part of the mc’s found family even if only temporary… it’s kinda bizarre in a good way and i hope sunday will get to play an active-ish role in the 3.x patches…

as a side note i do genuinely think hsr (and the hsr fandom) does such a great job with the astral express as a found family. i love how they’re very much characterized by very individual arcs but you can always tell that they’re a team at the end of the day and thus they don’t get watered down to Parents and Children. mahoyaku does a pretty good job at this too ngl especially by essentially introducing multiple facets of “maturity” and have members of a group have a prevalent, character-defining conflicts of interest… i love group dynamics only if it doesn’t compromise the characters individuality….
