chae was smiling to herself as she presented a plate with a single cupcake on it, the product of a few hours of work. somehow nearly everything on it was uneven - the frosting piled on top sat sideways, there were too many sprinkles, and the color hadn’t turned out anything like it was supposed to - but she was still impressed with her handiwork. “try it,” she instructed as she sat herself at the table. “i want honest feedback. don’t be scared to tell me if it tastes like a bad jelly belly flavor.”

the bright, warm sunshine on her face was always something that chae enjoyed. she had her head tilted back for a second and her eyes closed to just soak in the warmth for a while. today was a day just to have a fun little adventure outdoors. it’s not like this was totally out of character for chae to suggest for the two anyway; she loved to do day outings. one shop on the pier rented out bikes and chae was sat out front with the two that she had rented - one for herself and one for her friend. at first she had suggested horseback riding for the day but bike riding seemed a little more possible than finding somewhere with horses. she had finally opened her eyes after a while and glanced up and down the pier, her dark eyes catching on a familiar figure. “there you are!” she squealed out, waving her arm high above her head to flag them down. “i thought you knew not to keep a girl waiting.”
