it is one of the strangest days he lived in a year.  he sees her yet he doesn’t.  he hears her voice yet her words do not resonate in his head.   his eyes strain to focus on the conversation but instead they witness bursts of the labyrinthine interplay of the realms beyond the horizon.  he hears the music of the celestial spheres,  feels the vibration as they gyrate under his fingertips  (  no, not beneath the flesh but inside mended bones.   DEEPER.  ).    in a deliberate yet  FUTILE   attempt to mimic the fragmentary bars of  cosmic harmony   ————   a tune rises from his throat.  HE HUMS.   but he doesn’t even come close.   perhaps he never will.   gloom settles on his face  ;  he resurfaces from the chasm of his thoughts and he sees her again.
