He hummed, planning to ship over a box of caramel shortcakes to the return address because Kurtas get cool treats like that.

"U-uh, Kurapika... Hi, wasn't expecting to see you..." Killua choked out awkwardly; he's forgotten to wear anything over his tank top in his rush to get to town. Usually, it wouldn't matter to him, but... This was Kurapika. Damn.
Call to the Kurta
Hazel had once not known that human beings could be sold. She hadn’t known there were people out there who would pay money for another human being. But she knew now people would buy humans. People could do lots of cruel horrible things. She didn’t have to understand why they did it. She just knew they did.
She hadn’t expected to see them again, the ones who had killed her family and the entire Kurta Clan. They had come to where she was living now with her Master, the man who owned her, who had paid money to own her. Why were they coming back when they’d sold her to him? She sat quietly in a chair and watched them talk to her Master. She saw them give her Master money. Were they taking her back? Why? They told her to come with them and she could do nothing but follow the people - her clan’s murderers - into their car. They didn’t tell her why they were taking her back and she didn’t ask. She knew better then to ask. She just knew something worse was going to happen to her now and she didn’t know what. Maybe they were going to kill her and take her eyes. She didn’t feel anything at the thought. She just felt numb. If she died she could be with her family again wherever they were now. So maybe she did hope that was what they were going to do to her. She wanted to be with them again. She was tired of being beaten by her Master and she was tired of always being in pain. She wanted to be loved again.
The man in the passenger seat was taking out a cell phone and calling somebody. She didn’t pay attention to the words he was saying until she heard the word Kurta leave his lips.
“…. Kurta child. If you’re interested in getting back one of your people alive, come to the location prepared to exchange yourself for her life. If you don’t arrive there by midnight you’ll have a new pair of eyes to find.” He hung up the phone and Hazel snapped out of her numbed haze. Who had he been talking too? Did he mean they were going to kill her and take her eyes too if that person didn’t show up? Did he mean another Kurta? But that was impossible. I saw them die. I saw them kill my mommy and daddy and everyone! There’s no one left but me! They had spared her life because as they told her, her being a young girl and the last surviving Kurta would mean she would sell for a much higher price. Had they been lying about her being the last one?
“Who were you talking too?” She asked desperately but one of them told her to shut up and asked the man if they would kill her anyway. The man smiled and said, “Naturally. I want to give the chain user hope…. Then crush it in front of him. Neither of them will leave alive as punishment for Uvo’s death and their eyes will be sold. He took pleasure in denying revenge to those who came for it so this will be the perfect way to honor him.” Hazel trembled as she listened to them and started to cry. She wasn’t the only one left. There was another Kurta out there just like her. But it didn’t matter because they were going to kill them both anyway. As a waterfall of tears fell from now scarlet turned eyes down her cheeks she realized at least soon she wouldn’t be alone anymore. She’d die with the other Kurta and they’d be reunited with their family together. She just had to wait a little longer and all this sadness would be over. I won’t have to be alone anymore…

03 - Our muses are destined to only ever fall in love with each other as a fleeting holiday romance
It was like turning on and off the light when he saw him, in one puff of blond hair, which fluttered in front of his face, while his eyes flashed in red in those bloody orbits. Chrollo kept at a safe distance during the fortuitous encounter, in that vast hall of the cruise ship. It was obvious that the leader of the Phantom Troupe was there for a theft, something big that had organized with everyone, but at the moment he was alone, along with the young man who had cut off the two of the Spider’s leg, who had thrown the blood during the his path, only to come to him, that big monster made of darkness.
Their eyes were fused, they wiped out like waves on the shore, leaving only their bodies, which melted into a mass of sand. Chrollo observed Kurapika take a few steps, while his chains were formed around his wrist, ready to act in honour of a people massacred by the murderous madness, by a desire for revenge to other people, who had suffered an injury that couldn’t be repaid. The Troupe had acted in honour of Meteor City, and now it was up to the boy, dropping the topic in a vicious circle.
"So, when will you decide to kill me?" Chrollo asked, sinking his hands into the pockets of his black coat, and never raise his eyes from his enemy, who hissed menacingly.
"Don’t tease me, I'm not a dirty murderer."
The leader of the Ryodan raised an eyebrow, while he was a few steps closer to Kurapika, going around like a predator with its prey. The long wet tongue flicked in a loud pop, like the lash of a whip. "I do not think you can say that, in the end now you're at the boss of the Nostrade, or am I wrong?" His voice hovered around them like a summer breeze.
"Tch!"
"Is this your reaction? What a mature man."
He watched as the boy closed his hands into fists, and his anger was flying toward him. The man chuckled as he thought about how many times they had crossed along that journey, crossing the sea, and enacts his plan.
"When did you come on board?"
"Mmm, just the day before yesterday."
"The last city we visited."
"Yeah."
Kurapika gritted his teeth, and cursed him, he cursed himself for being so shallow and calm. Meanwhile, Chrollo approached him, grabbed his hands, then his hair, causing him to raise his head, so that the Kuruta could look him straight in the eye. "Just a day together and look what happened." He gasped before kissing his lips. "You're terrible."
