Still don’t know why it’s called warhammer40k like. I’m not all that into the factions or anything just my and my brothers armies. But I don’t know if I’ve even seen a single warhammer. It’s all guns and chainswords and sometimes normal swords. I’m just saying.

OK. So I've been seeing quote a few videos saying that the chainsword is a bad weapon. And whilst that may be true, it's also not.

When compared to other swords the balance is wrong, you have to have constant pressure to cut, and the teeth will chip when hitting hard materials. So this seems like a bad weapon.

But I argue that all these people are forgetting something about war. And that's moral. And whilst the chainsword isn't the most effective at killing, it's absolutely terrifying to fight. It's loud, it makes a horrible mess, and is weilded by 8ft tall mad men in heavy armor.

So if your spacemarine wants to defeat a group of enemies, their sword only has to kill 2 or 3 of them to convince the rest of the group to just nope out of there. And this means that whilst a normal sword will be able to kill more, a chainsword can defeat enemies without ever drawing blood.
