Last month, Spotify sent out their yearly “Spotify Wrap” - summary of our listening habits over the past year, divided into categories of “Top 5 __”. We don’t have Spotify’s ‘scientific algorithm’ but we can do what we do best - estimate! These rankings are based on TIME spent on a particular item. If one of these categories doesn't apply to you, feel free to skip. You also don't have to list all 5 or just 5. ^_~

And that's not all! If you'd like to make up your own top 5 category, go for it!

You can post your answers without comment/context or you can explain.

What are your top five fandoms for 2021 based on the amount of time you interacted with them?

What are your top five fandom spaces in terms of time spent? (AO3, Twitter, Tumblr, Reddit, Dreamwidth, and others)

What are the top five ways you interacted in these fandoms? (Reading fanfic, writing, commenting, watching videos, chatting with friends, making art, or anything else you can think of).

What are the top five things you did to contribute to fandom in terms of time? Did you write? Comment? Send positive energy into the universe? Create art?

What things did you create that took the most time?

As much as I'm often happy paddling my fandom-of-one canoe on my own, sharing my love and excitement and rants and hopes and general flailing about The Thing I Love is a big part of what draws me to fandom spaces. Admittedly, I've never been that good at talking people into fandoms, but that's never slowed me down when it comes to trying! So which of the Things You Love would you like to tell people about? Why might others like it? If you're a fan of this other thing, would you be a fan of this? Why is it just the best and most terrible and beautiful canon in your heart right now?

This challenge is focused on original canons, but I personally hold a pretty loose definition of what that can mean, so if you think something is a "canon," it totally is. Alternately, promote your favourite "cannon." Preferably with pictures.

Ahhh, the first of our Rec posts! How I’ve missed you. This is such a great challenge because I love seeing what people are loving on, what song that they can’t stop singing, what movie that they want to talk about but their family is tired of hearing about it, what video game they found that fills them with the sense of wonder and accomplishment that only other gamers can truly appreciate. Let us be those people for you!

Challenge #9 Rec Us Your Newest Thing. Post your answer to today’s challenge in your own space and leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so. Obsessions come in a lot of shapes and sizes, some of them come and go and some linger. You can absolutely use this space for that manifesto or fandom promo that you’ve always wanted to pen. You can also use it to share an earworm that you can’t get out of your head and think the best way to do it is to share it with the world. Or something in between.
