Challenge 118: What a Treat!: Thrifting I knew I didn't want to illustrate food for this theme, so I thought of other things that are a real treat in my life, and immediately thrifting came to mind! I love treasure hunting because you never know what incredible goodies you’ll come across, hidden on an overcrowded rack, or under a pile of society’s discards. Plus, it’s an ethical way to shop-- the fashion industry is the second-worst polluter behind the oil industry, and given today’s climate issues, if I can turn a hobby into a helpful lifestyle choice, I’m gonna do it! Challenge 118: What a Treat!: Popcorn

Popcorn is one of my favourite foods, if not my very favourite. Salty, crunchy, buttery deliciousness that’s filling, but also counts as a vegetable- what’s not to love?! I chose to illustrate this treat as a repeating pattern to represent the endless amount of popcorn I’ve eaten and will continue to eat throughout my life 💛 -Sayada

Challenge 118: What a Treat!: Stormy Movie Night

My boyfriend is my favorite person, so it makes sense that when I need a little lift in my spirits, cuddling up in the dark to a good movie is my go too! It’s the best treat I can give myself when I am typically always running around trying to get things done. We recently just finished watching the series “The Haunting of Hill House,” and I think that may be why I went with such a spooky color palette with this one.

Challenge 118: What A Treat!: Happy Hour

When I was younger eating pizza always seemed like such a special occasion: birthday parties, sleepovers, movie nights. As I got older a good beer also became a big part of the pizza experience. These days I probably eat pizza far more than I should, but somehow it still seams like a special treat. I thought it would be fun to create a small Happy Hour add for some good old pizza and beer, and try my hand with adding some text to my illustrations.

Challenge 118: What A Treat!: Sweet Sleep My favorite treat has got to be sleeping in, so I wanted to do a surreal piece on how it feels to sleep and dream without having to worry about my alarm.  I often have very vivid dreams each night, with linger in my head for days afterwards.  My sleepy brain is kind of like my own personal movie studio.  Hope you like! -Stephanie Crane facebook instagram tumblr
