Challenge 77: 5th Anniversary - Renew Anniversaries are the times in life where we can look back in past for ups and downs while gearing up for what is yet to come. I see this process as a gift; a total restart without losing or condemning who you were. Rather, it’s heading towards a better direction, knowing what you have learned. I picked rose quartz as a main colour inspiration and created an image of snake moulting. Another year. Renew. And the growth continues. 

Congratulations to Square Carousel. I can’t believe it has been 5 years since we first sat in Gallery Espresso picking papers with random words to name our group. I’m glad we landed on Square Carousel that day and that I was a part of the starting members. Glad to be back as a guest.

Challenge 77: 5th Anniversary: Glow-In-The-Dark I saw that glow-in-the-dark paint existed and I really really wanted to try it out. I tried sticking with rose quartz for the sky color (it looks a little too orange in the animation) and obviously the tree is wood too, so that’s 2/3 of the 5th anniversary items! I guess I could have done daisies on the ground too but my experiment was a little more difficult to handle than I had anticipated.  -Emily

Challenge 77: 5th Anniversary: Daisy Patterns I’m currently working on a collaboration where I’ll be creating about 60 patterns when it’s all said and done, so I had to be strategic and use this challenge to my advantage! It was great to have a little bit of a prompt for the pattern subject matter, since I’ve been running out of ideas. SO! Here are three daisy patterns: Vase Daisy, Geometric Daisy and Daisy Chain. These are so light-value and low-contrast because of the usage for them in the collaboration. It was definitely a challenge to work within these constraints, because I usually illustrate with very vibrant, and many colors! Caitlin
