The Lyke Wake Walk in three minutes....
Lyke Wake Walk - the start (2018) The Lyke Wake Walk is a 42 mile hike across the north Yorkshire moors between Osmotherley in the west and Ravenscar in the east. I was in a group of nine that did the crossing via the classic route from west to east, helped by a support team that met us at designated checkpoints along the way to provide food, fluids and encouragement. We arrived in Osmotherley at 21:45 on Friday 13th July 2018 and began our trek at about 22:00. We walked through the night and kept going until we reached our destination in the middle of the next afternoon....
In July I will be walking the above route of 100km, all in one go as part of the Jurrasic Coast Challenge, in support of a brilliant charity. I estimate that the whole thing will take me around 24 hours, including time for meal breaks and my inevitable slowing down due to exhaustion. You can find out more about the challenge I am undertaking here.
The charity I will be supporting is the Crossway Pregnancy Crisis Centre. While admittedly small and local to my area, this charity offers indispensable support and counselling to people facing an unplanned pregnancy, as well as providing a post abortion counselling service and sex and relationships lessons for schools. They were born out of christian concern regarding a local abortion clinic, but unlike many religious takes on abortion they have chosen to provide a pro choice service which is entirely non judgemental and simply seeks to provide clients with the tools and information they need to make their own decisions regarding their own bodies. You can find out more about the charity here.
If you want to see my attempts to train for this thing, you can check out my fb page here. And if you want to support me by donating you can do so here.
England's Toughest Hike?
England’s Toughest Hike?
2015 was the fiftieth anniversary of the opening of the Pennine Way National Trail. The brainchild of journalist and hiker Tom Stephenson the ‘Way’ has challenged thousands of hikers over the years. At 268 miles long and with almost thirty thousand feet of ascent it remains a challenge, even in these days of lightweight gear (and we haven’t even considered the rough terrain and bad weather yet)!

Do you have the time?
Where does the time go? I remember exactly what I was doing last year around this time. I can't believe the Challenge Walk is right around the corner. Now if you're wondering if I'm ready, the question is "No"...Well I'd like to say that I'm sort of ready. I haven't been walking as much as I should and there are still a ton of things that I need to get, like purchasing and breaking in my workout gear :/ I figure once the art show is finished, I'll be able to focus on the more important tasks...
Speaking of, the art show is in T H R E E days!!! I'm a bit freaked out because I've never done this before. The whole brainstorming, planning, and putting into action was never really my strong point but I have a feeling that this is going to be good! At least I hope its going to go good. If worse comes to worse, at least I have 8 amazing artists, 3 awesome performers, and 1 very talented DJ to help me celebrate and dance the night away! Which reminds me, if you haven't done so already, please mosey your way over to www.saveyours.tumblr.com to check out the line up.
Peace and Blessings good folks!
