This is a space to think.
One of my favorite things about writing is that it forces me to call myself out on my BS.
As I sit here, trying to write an introductory post for this blog, this has become more apparent than ever. I've been struggling to write some long, emotional essay about why I am here, what I hope to accomplish, etc., but it feels so disingenuous. I'm going to take a more straightforward approach.
What am I even doing here?
1 - Challenging beliefs: I want to challenge my beliefs. I want others to challenge my beliefs. I want to challenge others' beliefs.
2 - Express myself clearly: I would like to become become a better writer. By practicing organizing my thoughts, I hope to become a better speaker as well.
3 - Understanding my interests: By observing the types of things I write about, I hope to gain a better understanding of where my most intense interests lie.
It's a little daunting to have something so public on the internet. I've hidden behind the wall of a private blog for years now, and it has been very...comfortable. I realize that I may look back on some of these posts a few years (perhaps, even a few months) from now and cringe. To some extent, I hope I do cringe; that means I will have grown or, at least, changed.
That’s all I can hope for, right?
